Pioneer in India for promoting participation in International trade fairs

In 1972 Mr. Om Prakash an entrepreneur visited a German trade fair and visualized the high potential of Indian participation as visitors & exhibitors. His focus was to encourage Medium and Small Scale Industrialists to get exposure about technology, raw materials, designs and comparison of Indian products with those from other countries. Ultimately to provide impetus for export of Indian products.

Focus on SSI & SMEs

In 1977 he initiated and pioneered the group promotion of international industrial trade fairs in Germany for visits of Indian SSI & SMEs. With the cooperation of Indo German Chamber of Commerce and trade Associations in India, he organised industry groups for Textiles, Plastics & Rubber, Printing, Packaging, Metals, Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Wood Working & Furnishing, Jewellery, Food Processing, Dairy Products, Machine Tools, Agriculture, Waste Management and many more industry exhibitions all over the world. Mr. Om Prakash’s mission to promote all types of industry fairs encouraged Indian visitors in large numbers to identify & establish direct contacts with their business partners in the developed nations.

As a result of Mr. Om Prakash’s massive promotion, a large number of Indian visitors started to visit international trade fairs in Germany. The awareness to upgrade technology for Indian products played a key role in the development of Indian products and improvement in quality, due to visits to international trade fairs.

1992 Reforms

The scarcity of foreign exchange for import of technology prior to 1992 was a major hindrance in the advancement of Indian products for the world market. After 1992 reforms India saw a major revolution in the import policy. Indian Government encouraged technology transfer joint ventures and foreign investments in Indian industry. This helped to upgrade the quality of Indian products.

Trade Fair Organisors of Leading countries invited Om Prakash

The news of Mr. Om Prakash’s successful mission of promotion of international trade fairs of Germany soon spread to other countries and he was invited by other country’s trade fair organisors to promote their country’s fairs for Indian exhibitors & visitors. These countries included: France, Italy, UK, USA, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore & China. Mr. Om Prakash was invited by Britain’s Exhibition Organisors Association in London & Malaysian Trade Fair Authorities in Kuala Lumpur to address their Exhibition Organisors regarding promotion of their trade exhibitions for Indian businessmen.

Value addition

Over and above the visits to international trade fairs abroad, Mr. Om Prakash added Factory visits, meetings with Trade Associations, Chambers of Commerce etc. Similarly he encouraged Indian Associations & Institutions to organise their delegations.

Contribution to Agriculture
Indian Agriculture & Dairy Ministers’ visits with their States delegations

Many States Ministers for Agriculture and Dairy organised their delegations with Mr. Om Prakash such as Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Meghalaya and visited World Dairy Expo & Summit in China every year. This helped to upgrade Indian Dairy & Veterinary technology.

44 years of excellent achievements

During 44 years of his mission of contributing to Industrial development of India Mr. Om Prakash was rewarded many International and National Awards by International Exhibition Organisors, and International Institutions such as:

• INDO-GERMAN AWARD 1985 presented by Dr. Lothar Speath – Prime Minister (BW) Federal Republic of Germany for his outstanding contribution in the development of Indo-German Economic Relations.
• INDO-GERMAN AWARD 1995 & 1999 for his outstanding contribution in the development of Indo German Economic Relations by Minister of Science & Research BW Federal Republic of Germany.
• AMBASSADOR OF GERMANY IN INDIA by Messe Düsseldorf for his dedicated service of promotion of Düsseldorf fairs for 30 years.
• In 2015 GERMAN AWARD for his dedication of 4 decades promotion of German Fairs by Mr. Michael Siebert, Consul General – Consulate of Federal Republic of Germany.
• Government of Texas USA with Honorary Citizenship Award
• Ambassador of Goodwill Award by Government of Arkansas USA
• Marshal of Oklahoma Territory Award USA
• China Tourism Ministry’s Top Award 2010 for promotion of China Fairs in India.
• India International Tourism Council presented “Lifetime Achievement Award”.
• Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Exhibitions & Events Industry of India at “Eventuality 2009”.
• “Most Influential Person” in the Travel Industry Award presented by NDTV PROFIT & OTM in February 2014.
• India Travel Award 2014 “The Wall of Legends” Award by DDP Group presented by Mr. Parvez Dewan, Secretary Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.

• Indian Prime Minister Mr. Morarji Desai who was the Chief Guest at the send-off function of 325 Indian visitors to Drupa 82 held in Germany whole-heartedly appreciated Mr. Om Prakash’s efforts.
• The Prime Minister of Israel Mr. Shimon Peres felicitated Mr. Om Prakash in Israel in 1993 for bringing 300 agriculture professionals to Israel.
• Mr. Om Prakash was elected as Chairman, Travel Agents Association of India (WR) for 2006-07 & 2007-08.
• Mr. Om Prakash was invited by Britain’s Exhibition Organisors Association at London to address the Exhibition Organizers regarding promoting of their trade fairs in India.
• Invited by Malaysian Trade Fair Authorities to Kuala Lumpur to address the Exhibition Organizers regarding promoting of Malaysian fairs in India.
• Mr. Om Prakash was interviewed on BBC TV, Voice of America & German TV.
• Mr. Om Prakash is a Rotarian and one of the Founders of Laughter Clubs. He conducts Laughter Club of Worli Seaface in Mumbai since 18 years.
