LMW Limited, established in 1962, began the Machine Tool Division (MTD) in 1988 to produce India’s finest CNC machines. Known for the quality, reliability, and customer support, LMW Limited has become a key player in the Indian CNC market. The division manufactures advanced CNC Turning and Machining Centers, offering 85 models and 165 variants tailored to diverse industries. LMW also provides turnkey solutions, and robotic & gantry automation for specialized manufacturing needs. With strong research capabilities and global technology partnerships, LMW ensures cutting-edge innovations, solidifying the reputation as a leader in CNC and industrial precision engineering. Excerpts from an interview:

Q1. LMW has a remarkable legacy in machine tool making. How do you maintain innovation and excellence in this vertical?
At LMW, innovation and excellence are embedded in our root. We continuously invest in cutting-edge technology, adopt global best practices, and focus on customer feedback to refine our offerings. Q2. With over 85 models and 165 variants of CNC machines, how does LMW ensure that each product meets the specialized requirements of its target industries? Can you share insights into your R&D approach?
Our diverse product range is a result of meticulous R&D efforts. We collaborate closely with end-users to understand their unique challenges and requirements. By leveraging advanced simulation tools, prototyping, and rigorous testing, we ensure our products deliver optimal performance. Our R&D teams are constantly exploring emerging trends such as Industry 4.0 and automation to future-proof our offerings.

Q3. From partnerships with Mori Seiki and Mikron to developing in-house capabilities, LMW has undergone significant transformations. What were the key learnings from these collaborations, and how have they shaped your current operations?
These partnerships have been instrumental in broadening our technological horizon and adopting global standards of excellence. Key learnings include mastering precision manufacturing, optimizing operational efficiency, and embracing innovation. Today, these experiences fuel our in-house capabilities, enabling us to deliver world-class products & solutions.

Q4. As a home-grown leader in machine tools, how does LMW plan to leverage the opportunities in India’s burgeoning economy and initiatives like ‘Make in India’?
India’s economic growth and initiatives like ‘Make in India’ present unparalleled opportunities. LMW is committed to supporting these initiatives by expanding local manufacturing capabilities, enhancing our product portfolio, and providing customized solutions to industries like Automobile, Die Mould, Electronics, Aerospace, Pump & Valve, Oil & Gas, and Precision Engineering. We aim to empower Indian manufacturers with advanced technologies while contributing to the country’s self-reliance.

Q5. Sustainability & digitalization are becoming critical for manufacturing. How is LMW integrating these aspects into its processes and products to remain ahead of the curve?
LMW places significant emphasis on sustainability and digitalization. Our processes focus on energy efficiency and waste reduction. On the product front, we are incorporating smart manufacturing features such as IoT-enabled monitoring, predictive maintenance, and intelligent automation to enhance productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
