However with new initiatives by the government such as ‘Make In India’ , ‘Skill India” there is lot of anticipation and hope that Indian manufacturing segment will now attract lot of fresh investments. With government emphasis on infrastructure, agro-processing, railways we see tremendous growth potential being unleashed. With competitive pressure the factory automation is one area which Indian manufacturers no longer overlook in order to stay in the global race.

Q. What are the milestones your company has achieved till date ?
Baumer India is operational in India since 2008 so we have completed ten years. When we started Baumer had very limited market presence confined to only few products from the vast product portfolio of Baumer. Also most of the market was indirect i.e. very few local OEM references. In the last ten years we are able to expand our customer base very widely across all the product segments that Baumer sales. We have several hundred OEM accounts of both multinational as well as Indian companies.

We are a leading supplier for several segments like steel, material handling, wind energy, textile, assembly & handling and packaging and pharma machines. We are also growing very fast in segments such as food/beverages and dairy industry where we started a bit late in India but are very fast catching up.

Baumer is a umbrella brand but we have several group companies that are sort of industry standards such as hhs for Gluing systems and Huebner for heavy duty encoders, Bourdon for process instruments.

Q. What product technology you represent ?
Baumer works across four product segments. Sensor technology at the heart of all Baumer products. But it is further specialized into motion control, position sensors, process sensors and vision technology.

Apart from this we have a specialized group for gluing systems where is we do very sophisticated systems for hot and cold glue application and quality assurance. These products mainly cater to folding carton, corrugated packaging and end of line packaging segments.

We are the only organization in Baumer world who handles all the product segments with number of customers who buy from us multiple products from various product segments.

Q. What is the future of your products in India ?
Indian industrial development in the last two decades happened more in the areas of services and information technology and manufacturing was in a way neglected by us as a nation. However with new initiatives by the government such as ‘Make In India’, ‘Skill India” there is lot of anticipation and hope that Indian manufacturing segment will now attract lot of fresh investments. With government emphasis on infrastructure, agro-processing, railways we see tremendous growth potential being unleashed. With competitive pressure the factory automation is one area which Indian manufacturers no longer overlook in order to stay in the global race.

In low industrial growth era we have grown better than the industry and look forward to period with high industrial growth. Baumer products bring in reliability, precision and long life and we see that this is what Indian customers today look for. The typical image that Indian customers are looking for only price bargain is very wrong and we see in most of the segments we operate the customers are looking for high quality products from a stable supplier who can also guide them in technological selection. This is exactly how Baumer operated worldwide.

Q. What is your vision for forthcoming years ?
In the forthcoming years we have several ides to cater to which may also include local assembly/manufacture of our products. This will enable us to meet the ‘make in India’ criterion and would also help many international companies to work with us. Apart from this we see very high growth in steel, food processing and infrastructure such as Railways. For all these industries we have a very dedicated product portfolio with proven applications in different part of the world. Obviously we look at replicating and expanding our success in these areas.
