and Operations Consulting (MOC)
Services in the Asia-Pacific division.

Energy consulting and testing & certification company DNV KEMA strengthens its smart grid-related services with the appointment of Don Bonnitcha as Director for DNV KEMA’s Management and Operations Consulting Services in Asia Pacific. Bonnitcha takes up his new position in December 2012 and brings with him extensive leadership experience and a proven ability to manage teams and delivering a broad range of consulting services for DNV KEMA in Australia and New Zealand.
In his new role Bonnitcha will be responsible for the existing consulting teams in Australia, China and Singapore, and to further develop the DNV KEMA Management Operations and Consulting (MOC) business throughout Asia and the Pacific. The MOC services focus on energy Markets and Regulation (MAR), utility organisation Operational Excellence (OE), Power System Operation and Control (PSOC), Intelligent Networks and Communications (INC) and utility Risk Management (RMS). “I am delighted to join the DNV KEMA Asia Pacific Division and to be able to work with very experienced and knowledgeable teams to deliver on its development goals in this important market,” says Bonnitcha.
“In the current energy environment throughout the Asia-Pacific region, nations are driving toward reduced reliance on fossil fuels, increased penetration of renewable sources, and meeting stakeholder demands for higher efficiency and reliability in power delivery. It is therefore important that utilities and energy suppliers have access to leading practices that are underpinning the adoption of automation technologies and applications, and smarter ways to operate power systems more efficiently.” “I am glad that Don has accepted this new position. With over 20 years experience, he brings with him a wealth of expertise in smarter ways to operate power systems more efficiently. We will also make use of his industry insights across the wider DNV KEMA operations and the five geographical regions we serve here in Asia,” says Bjorn Tore Markussen, Chief Operating Officer for DNV KEMA Asia Pacific.
“The ties between China and Australia are strong and both countries are currently undergoing significant changes in their electricity markets. I am confident that Don’s appointment will further strengthen the cooperation among industry players in the energy domain” – Bjorn Tore Markussen, Chief Operating Officer in DNV KEMA Asia Pacific. |
“Our clients in APAC have considerable growth and infrastructure expansion needs, for which Don is well-prepared in building upon our global capabilities to specifically anticipate and address their business challenges” – Rob Wilhite, Global Director for Management and Operations Consulting (MOC) Services in DNV KEMA. |
“The global MOC business in DNV KEMA is well-established and we have delivered projects for many years in China, India, Korea, Japan, South East Asia as well as Australia. With the anticipated need for more energy efficient operations, mainly through the application of smart grids and intelligent networks, we are now planning to expand our APAC teams to meet the future market,” says Rob Wilhite, Global Director for Management and Operations Consulting Services in DNV KEMA. “Under Don’s leadership, we will continue to build capabilities to address client business issues in key APAC regions, using global knowledge and methods but applied with local experience.”
