Looking Back, Looking Forward

“When we recall our humble beginnings, the image of a small workplace with one machine conjures up. That was our set-up as a service provider, re-grinding of all types of cutting tools. This journey continued till 5-6 years. It was in 2005 that we first installed a new 5-Axis CNC Grinding machine, keeping in mind the need to design, manufacture and supply Special Carbide Tools as per customer requirements.

Thereafter, we kept on adding one machine each year till date. This culminated in shaping up our world-class manufacturing facility equipped with sophisticated production equipment of renowned brands like ANCA, ROLLOMATIC, etc. Recently we have added a Cemecon HiPIMS Coating Facility to give better service to our customers,” reminisces Ilyas.

Lesson Learned from the Pandemic

“It is different from having a vision for more critical, extraordinary things. Yet, when reality strikes hard, it shows scarce resources and limited growth opportunities. But you have a great sense of fulfillment when you defy all the odds and soar high to reach the zenith. Sure, the pandemic hit hard, and there are rough patches here and there when you are in business. But in my opinion, the most important lesson of the lockdown experience was that one should be prepared for contingencies. Not just physically and mentally, but financially as well. Any organization should be able to sustain itself for three to four months, whatever the situation. Fortunately, we could withstand the rough weather. We sustained it well for a good six months. We supported our employees and managed not to leave them disappointed,” recounts the affable MD.

While concluding the path down memory lane, IIyas Shaikh says, “There’s a lot that we aim to achieve in the coming years – both personally and professionally. And I await the challenges that life throws at me because they have only strengthened me. And this is my journey, and I would not change a single thing if it had to be relived all over again”.
