The first phase of 3 million tonnes of Tata Steel’s 6 million tonnes per annum greenfield steel plant at Kalinganagar in Odisha has gone on stream. The company also possesses and operates captive iron ore, coal and chrome ore mines. Through its array of differentiated products and services, Tata Steel addresses the needs of key market segments in India such as Automotive, Energy & Power, Construction, Engineering, Consumer Products, Rail, Capital Goods, Oil & Gas, Lifting & Excavation, Agriculture, Material Handling, etc

Tata Steel is globally acknowledged for excellence in different aspects of its operations. Besides being one of ‘worldsteel’s’ Climate Action members, Tata Steel has, over the years, won several awards, including the Prime Minister’s Trophy for Best Performing Integrated Steel Plant, the CII-ITC Sustainability Prize and the ‘Best-in-class Manufacturing’ Award by TIME, among others.

In 2008, Tata Steel India became the first integrated steel plant in the world, outside Japan, to be awarded the Deming Application Prize 2008 for excellence in Total Quality Management. In 2012, Tata Steel became the first integrated steel company in the world, outside Japan, to win the Deming Grand Prize 2012 instituted by the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers.
