Q. Being the key player in heat exchangers business, Please brief us about recent initiatives undertaken in Chemical and Process equipment industry?

The chemical and Process equipment industry in the past one year has taken cautious steps to prepare the ground for taking advantage of the expected uptick in the Indian economy. We will see enhanced investment coming into the sector once the uptrend looks sustainable.

Q. What are the market opportunities for Chemical & Process equipment industry in India?

The major market opportunities going forward would be coming from the power sector – Thermal, Nuclear & Renewables with nuclear leading the way though this sector will continue to be a price sensitive market. The refining and downstream oil & gas sector will also see renewed investment flowing in with the crude prices dropping and sustaining at lower levels. Our storage tank heating (plate coil) solutions comes into play for this segment apart from welded product range (SPW & DPW) for high temperature and pressure applications. The government decision to boost ethanol production by making 10 per cent blending with petrol mandatory starting October 2015 will see good opportunities from this sector & we are well positioned to tap this opportunity with our “Tall Boy”range of wide gap gasketed plate heat exchangers for high fouling duties.

Q. The incisive competition leads to work on lower profit margins, how do you tackle this position by implementing what kind of marketing strategy?

The market downturn has led to reduction in project enquiries with the profit margins shrinking. As an organization we have focused on improving our channel partner network to improve our reach & provide faster service to our end users. Our endeavor is to support our customers during the life cycle of the heat exchangers both onsite & also at our well-equipped service center in Pune. The focus is also on looking for opportunities for conversion of existing heat transfer equipment to plate type heat exchangers by stressing on the total cost of ownership & the return on investments. We continue looking for new opportunities in the heat recovery segment utilizing our efficient range of plate heat exchangers. At the same time we are in the process of making our post order execution system robust to ensure customer delight at every touchpoint. Satisfied customers lead to profitable business.

Q. According to your opinion how does the synergy of R&D & technology developments is maintain to maintain the position in the market?

To stay ahead of the curve an organization has to anticipate the changing requirements of the marketplace. Even in a mature product line there is always a possibility to innovate and bring technology development to the existing product which can turn out to a game changer in the long run. R&D plays an important role in ensuring an organization retains its leadership position. Tranter is committed to product innovation and the well-equipped test lab in our Pune plant plays a major role in testing new product innovations & improvements which are designed by the global R&D team.

Q. What are the recent development in Chemical & Process equipment sector?

The growing global focus on energy efficiency against a backdrop of depleting fossil fuel resources, rising focus on green energy and emphasis on curbing environmental pollution and climate, is poised to benefit the market for energy efficient compact plate heat exchangers. Stringent wastewater treatment laws, against a backdrop of rising levels of water pollution and contamination, are providing fertile opportunities for the growth of heat exchangers in wastewater treatment plants

Q. Could you brief us on Indian & Global perspective of Chemical & Process equipment industry?

With the current downturn in the global economy we will see consolidation in the sector which will lead to efficient usage of resources. In India we should see opportunities coming from heat recovery applications wherein customers would previously have not used a heat exchanger or would have been using an inefficient method of recovery.

Q. According you what are the factors affecting to Chemical & Process equipment business?

Project delays due to noncompliance of various regulatory norms would still be the major stumbling block for business to pick up in India apart from the global economy slowdown. Also a lack of focus on the long term costs of owning a heat exchanger is another stumbling block for the growth of this business in India.

Q. What are the key technological trends that are driving Chemical & Process equipment industry?

The highly mature global heat exchangers market is set to thrive on replacement demand coming from frequent upgrades and incremental technology improvements with energy efficiency benefits driving migration from shell and tube to compact plate heat exchanger solutions. Also poised to drive future gains are innovations that help lower total ownership costs and increase durability and efficiency of heat exchangers.
