Time is money : The “quick openers” from TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP Cable carriers for simple and quick cable laying

The cable carriers from the EASYTRAX, QUICKTRAX and UNIFLEX Advanced series from TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP have one thing in common: they are designed to be opened quickly. This makes installation and replacement of cables and hoses particularly easy, saving users time and money.

Depending on the series, various design features allow quick cable laying. The EASYTRAX and QUICKTRAX series, for example, use the 2K design. 2K stands for the two connected design components: chain links made of hard material and crossbars with flexible film hinges or flexible lamella crossbars. This allows the construction of cable carriers which combine the seemingly contradictory properties of stability and flexibility.

The computer and the printer for check-in are housed in mobile trolleys. The required cables are placed in a KABELSCHLEPP cable carrier.

QUICKTRAX: crossbar with flexible film hinge
The QUICKTRAX series features crossbars with flexible film hinges. They allow fast opening and easy lay in of cables and hoses with a high fill level and therefore full use of the inner space. Depending on the application, the crossbars can be opened in the outer radius (model 030) or inner radius (model 040). The crossbars are connected to the chain with a film hinge and remain fixed to the chain link even when open so they cannot get lost during lay in of cables and hoses. The flexible material and the special shape allow the crossbars to be opened easily with just a simple movement: The crossbars are under slight tension which lets them spring open when they are unlocked. This means the cable carrier is ready for lay in of cables and hoses in no time at all and can be closed again just as quickly. No additional tools are required for loading the cable carrier, but handling is also very easy with a screwdriver.

EASYTRAX: Flexible lamella crossbars
The EASYTRAX series on the other hand features flexible lamella crossbars into which the cables simply snap in. A very high fill level can be achieved as the crossbars swivel to the side and not into the cable space. The inner space of the cable carrier remains fully available and none of the cable carrier cross sections is wasted. The lamella crossbars swiveling to the front additionally allow the use of divider systems for repairing cables. The special wrap-around design seats the stays firmly in the chain link to ensure secure cable routing. The EASYTRAX chain links are made of glass fiber reinforced plastic. This fiber plastic compound provides stability, allowing extensive unsupported length. Compared to cable carriers made of non-reinforced material, the unsupported length can be nearly doubled with EASYTRAX. The fixed chain links are placed next to each other and pressed together. This simple assembly process creates the individually desired length.

Ideal for numerous applications
EASYTRAX as well as QUICKTRAX are equipped with an integrated noise damper to ensure especially quiet running of the cable carrier. The small division also means that both series run very quietly: Advantages which play an important role for applications in the logistics field, for example. But the innovative cable carriers also prove successful in other areas of application, for example at the check-in terminals at Nuremberg airport. Computers and printers are housed in mobile trolleys here. Cables and connectors are therefore constantly at risk of being damaged or disconnected accidentally. With EASYTRAX, the engineers at the airport were able to remove this source of error to optimize availability of the computers at check-in. The cable carriers are used at all 30 check-in desks of Nuremberg airport. This trolley is stored underneath the table of the check-in desk when it is not in use and is pulled out on the casters which run along a rail on the floor when it is required. The EASYTRAX cable carrier with a clear inner width of 38 millimeters guides the cables safely and without contact to the floor. Tangled cables and loose connectors during movement of the trolley are prevented.

UNIFLEX Advanced: crossbars with ball joint mechanism
The UNIFLEX Advanced series is extremely quick to open, but the design is different: The crossbars connecting the two side bands are fitted with a ball joint mechanism. It ensures fast cable laying and also makes the cable carrier especially stable in the closed state. When open, the crossbar remains on the chain link or it can be removed completely by unscrewing. A special tool is available for fast and gentle opening. It can also be used on UNIFLEX Advanced models with cables installed. Users can open one meter of cable carrier in only two seconds with this tool.

The low noise, solid plastic cable carrier is lightweight and at the same time very robust. Reinforced wear areas on the outside additionally ensure a very long service life for applications laying on their side. Light, robust and highly resilient – it is exactly these features that make the UNIFLEX Advanced the right choice for the multi-functional formwork robot from Sommer Anlagentechnik GmbH. The company based in Landshut manufactures and assembles production systems for the pre-fabricated concrete industry and selected TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP for its cable carriers.

“Our multi-functional formwork robot is a highly developed solution. We guarantee especially careful handling of formwork and highest precision for our customers,” explains Rainer Braun, Development Manager at SOMMER Anlagentechnik. “The cable carriers also have to meet the highest requirements so our machine can carry out its various tasks without problems.” The cable carrier type UNIFLEX Advanced 1555 is used on the Z-axis of the formwork robot. High additional loads and extensive unsupported lengths are no problem for the cable carrier, with fast cable laying as an added bonus.
