Q. You are a renowned manufacturer of high precision balls and rollers.
Tell us something about your beginnings and your journey hitherto spanning over four decades.
We started off with and continue building on a very humble beginning. Our late grandfather Nyalchand Tolia started the business with the aspiration of getting us to where we are today. Our seniors, Rajesh Tolia, Shailesh Tolia and Viresh Tolia have further delegated their profiles to ‘us’, the third generation.
We, as a new business, had a lot of hustle to put in like any other, and our seniors have truly worked hard to make their dream a reality. The second-generation leaders of the business gave us the platform that we stand on today. We are extremely grateful to our elders for placing the brand “Tolia” on the global market.
Q. What’s your manufacturing range today and what are the applications of your products?
We manufacture Steel Balls in the range of 3.00 mm to 78.00 mm.
Applications for balls are in various industries like, bearing, oil & gas, automotive, cosmetics, robotics, aerospace and other myriad applications. We thrive on providing solutions to our clientele.
We manufacture Cylindrical & Taper rollers from 6 x 6 mm to 80 x 80 mm
The applications are similar. However, our focus remains on the bearing industry and oil & gas applications.
Q. Please throw some light on your production facilities, capabilities and manufacturing excellence.
We have a total of four manufacturing units and are working diligently doubling the current capacity.
Our manufacturing units function in the names of Needumbra Industries Pvt. Ltd., Forward Precision Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Tolia Industries, and Tolia Ball & Roller.
All plants carry ISO 14001 & IATF 16949 certifications to meet the industrial standards as well as the demands of our high-end customers.
Q. What’s crucial as a manufacturer? How do you instill quality and reliability in your critical products?
We believe that every process needs to be set with the highest standards of quality; each step is considered critical towards achieving the required level of quality we aim to achieve and supply to our clientele. We also believe that growth in any business comes with the team’s growth, and we are completely focused on the growth of our team members. The rest will follow in accordance with the goals set by the management.
Q. You state that you are making continuous efforts to reduce the negative impact on environment. Could you elaborate this?
We are proudly reusing 70 percent of the water that our production activities consume. We have a state-of-the-art ETP that not only helps us reduce the waste that we let out as per government norms, but in addition we also further process this water to be re-used within our own plants.
Considering the water situation in Maharashtra and globally, we understand the challenges on hand and the effort needed to be put in as an established manufacturer and responsible citizens of this world. We are also working on eliminating wasteful activities that others may have overlooked in the past. We believe in setting an example for everyone to follow.
Q. We understand that besides standard products, you also offer customized solutions. What are these bespoke solutions?
We can provide bespoke solutions for all specific requirements of our clients. Be it providing a specific grade or ball diameter or a customized chemical composition or meeting a special packing requirement, we provide customized solutions to satisfy our customers.
Q. Please give some insight into your customer base and market penetration.
Thanks to our product quality, reliability and reputation, we have been able to achieve a deeper and wider market penetration. Our customer base is spread all over the world, and the brand Tolia is renowned globally.
Q. What does it take to gain customer delight, trust and loyalty in your view?
It takes in absolute reference ‘all of you’ as a ‘person’ and as a ‘business’ to win the trust of the clientele we hold today.
Trust is not built over a single transaction; it is rather built over years of hard work that your client recognizes! Being one of the industry leaders, we take pride in being the one stop solution provider for balls and rollers.
Q. What are your growth strategies? Any expansion plans in the anvil?
A business today, is only a springboard from where you can take a plunge! Yes, we have an ambitious plan for expansion in the manufacturing side of the business. We as the third generation want to build on what we have been given! The newest roller plant with an increased capacity is an expansion plan that has come to reality towards the end of year 2021.
We put in the extra efforts for new product developments and review client’s needs over and above our plans to make it a WIN-WIN-WIN situation for all stakeholders.
Q. What’s the way forward for Tolia Group? And how do you look at the future?
The only way forward for the third generation of the Toila group is to see growth in ourselves through continuously enriching our knowledge, honing skills and learning new things. We shall pass on the same to our team like in a relay race for a holistic industry experience. Our senior members will continue to inspire us and serve as torchbearers so that we are fully geared to take on the challenges of tomorrow head on.
