YASKAWA India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yaskawa Electric Corporation, Japan – one of the most advanced & world class manufacturers in the field of drive technology, industrial automation and Robotics. YASKAWA started its journey in India with the business of PLC in 1980 and AC Drives in 1990 and steadily expanded its Robotics application presence since 2005 to accommodate growing customer needs. Today with operations spanning the length & breath of the country, Yaskawa India has emerged as a central hub for our future goals which is headed by a dynamic sales, service, training and technical support team. Our products and solutions have been supporting automation in a wide variety of industrial fields including automotive, machine tools, FMCG, Electronics, Packaging, textile, crane, ceramics, and life sciences.

Any turnaround story to narrate?

Yaskawa Electric led the world in putting forward the term “mechatronics”, now widely used around the world, in the late 1960s. This concept evolved when we combined our customers’ machinery with Yaskawa’s electronic products to create superior quality and function.

Nowadays, the mechatronics technology which improves performance by applying electronics to machine control is widely used for automation and efficiency improvement in various industries.

Yaskawa’s sophisticated technologies that had been built up over a long period of history have been embodied in the form of various products and are making great contributions to the society. Those technologies/products were established through steady efforts of our predecessors though the process up to the present day was not an easy one.

Have you embraced Industry 4.0 in your manufacturing as a long-term business strategy?

We opened a new R&D center, YASKAWA Technology Center (YTC) in Japan, to build a system that can respond quickly to the diverse needs of our customers. YTC is based on the three key concepts of integrated development processes, aggregation and creation of intelligence, and creation of innovative technology. The concept is to become a technology-intensive base where we develop products that will lead customers’ businesses to success in a timely manner through all of the Yaskawa Group technologies and open innovation.

By consolidating the development systems that were dispersed in each division and corporate development division, we have created an environment in which we can work consistently on planning, development, production, and quality control. We have also created an environment in which employees can be constantly exposed to the world’s technological trends, as well as a system to promote information sharing and communication.

To achieve self-reliance, YASKAWA India is investing heavily in research and development, as well as in the establishment of local manufacturing facilities for our Drives & Motion Control Division in Bangalore. This will enable us to produce high-quality products that are tailored to the specific needs of the Indian market.
