Lakshmi Machine Works Limited, founded in 1962, is a leading textile machine manufacturer in India and one among the three in the world to produce the entire range of textile spinning machineries. The value-driven machine tool division of LMW started its journey in the year 1988 to produce the finest range of CNC machines. The company has collaborated with Japan’s Mori Seiki for manufacturing turning centers and machining centers. Later, LMW associated with Mikron of Switzerland in 1995 to produce high precision universal milling machines for tool room applications.
From 1996, LMW Machine Tool Division has developed its own capability to design and manufacture world-class CNC turning and machining centers. The high precision mother machines coupled with skilled people produce high quality products. The company has made a substantial investments on manufacturing facilities, which brings technological competence that address the global market. A dedicated spindle assembly section makes spindles upto 24000 rpm. LMW makes different spindles like, belt-driven, direct-driven and built-in motor spindles. These spindles undergo spindle run testing, and spindle dynamic balancing. All the assembly lines are dust-free and temperature controlled to ensure maximum accuracy.

LMW currently has 55 models and 88 variants of machines in Turning center, Machining center and Turnmill centers. It has introduced products which are very compact, cost effective and high speed which will address the needs of small component manufacturers where volumes are very high like the bearing industry. It also has products that are planned for the global market, which means the machines are state-of-the-art, having high feed rates with rapids upto 60 m/min and spindle speeds upto 24000 rpm. The machines also have accelerations of 1G. This means the non-cut time is reduced to a very great level, resulting in faster and higher production. In addition, all these machines are IOT ready. Till date, LMW MTD has supplied more than 28,000 CNC Turning Centres and machining centres to a wide customer base spanning automobile industry, auto ancillaries, and general engineering industries. New Launches at IMTEX 23
LMW launched and displayed some of its latest machines in turning, milling and turnmill centers at IMTEX 2023055 held at BIEC, Bengaluru from 19th to 25th January 2023.
S Turn-I, the state-of-art turning machine has maximum turning dia of 320 mm, and maximum turning length of 400 mm. The machine comes with 8 station hydraulic turret, spindle speed of 4500 rpm, and spindle power of 5.5/ 7.5 kW. The machine has interfaced with gantry automation. High speed positioning keeps non-cut time to the minimum. The machine is suitable for Aerospace, Automobile, Defence and General Engineering.
Gigaturn-I is an optimal large dia turning center with maximum turning dia of 510 mm and maximum turning length of 640 mm. The machine comes with 12 stations turret, rigid fixture for stable turning, and customized EOS screen. It has a wide chip disposal area for easy maintenance. The machine is suitable for Automobile, Pumps & Valves and Oil & Gas industries.
JD-1, a precision machine, has a direct drive spindle BBT 30, with speed upto 24,000 rpm. The machine has a rigid structure with wider working area. It is ergonomically designed for easy loading and unloading operations. The machine comes with faster tool change time of 1 sec. It is designed for high speed machining for materials such as Aluminum and special aluminum alloys. The machine is ideally suited for components of electronic gadgets such as mobile case, laptops and tablets.
The company also launched 2 machines from popular J series Vertical Machining Centers. J6 R has rotary pallet changers which is a major requirement from many high volume production customers. It has a table size of 850 x 500 mm, and spindle speed upto 10,000 rpm. It comes with 24 ATC tools. The machine is suitable for Automobile, Aerospace, Defence, Die & Mould, Pumps & Valves and General Engineering.
J8 – Heavy duty Vertical Machining Center, has a table size of 1200 x 600 mm, spindle speed of 6000 rpm and it has BT 50 tooling for heavy duty machining to meet the requirements of larger components. The machine is suitable for Automobile, Aerospace, Agricultural & Earthmovers, Die & Mould, Pumps & Valves and General Engineering.
JH 500 is a state-of-art, horizontal machining center having 500 x 630 pallet size with pallet loading capacity of 500 kg. The machine comes with a hydraulic rotary pallet changer. It has a 40-tool station. This machine is suitable for Automobile, Pumps & Valves, Aerospace and General Engineering.
