Kusam Electrical has the distinction of having introduced Digital Multimeters for the first time in India. Chandmal Goliya, Director, Kusam Electrical Industries Ltd. tells us all about his company’s pioneering efforts in developing and introducing a wide range of digital testing and measuring instruments in the market.
Q. KUSAM-MECO has pioneered the use of Digital Multimeters in India since 1986. How has the evolution of Digital Testing & Measuring Instruments influenced Industry practices over the years?
KUSAM-MECO has been the pioneer to introduce Digital Multimeters & Clampmeters in India in 1986. At that time most Test Instruments were of the Analog type. Slowly and steadily due to strong marketing efforts by our Company, Digital Instruments were accepted by the Industry which encouraged us to add more and more new Digital Products. We added Digital Insulation Resistance Testers, Earth Resistance Testers, Environmental Testing Instruments, Laboratory Testing Instruments, Gas Detectors, etc. Each Meter now has many functions packed into one Instrument, so that the User does not have to carry many Instruments to accomplish his task. Now Customers ask for Digital Instruments and the Market for Analog Instruments has shrunk tremendously and is less than 5% of the Digital Instruments Market.
Q. Your Company emphasizes reliability & safety in Test Instruments. Can you share some of the unique features & safety protections integrated into your Products to meet Industry demands?
Reliability & Safety should be of utmost importance when buying any Instrument. Any small fault due to poor design or quality can cause fatal accidents. KUSAM-MECO offers high safety ‘UL’ listed Digital Multimeters and Clampmeters to the Indian Industry. These ‘UL listed Products have CAT IV 600V; CAT III 1000V safety. These Instruments have Transient Protection of 6 KV to 12 KV for the safety of the Operator & the Instrument. They have Fire Retarding Polycarbonate Casing. Such high level safety features are not available in many other Brand Instruments in India. Moreover, each Instrument passes stringent quality control test at our Company, so that the customers get only quality Instruments. Some of the Instruments are EX-grade, Explosion proof grade which can be used in hazardous areas also. These Instruments have to be manufactured with special design, so that there is no accident in the Plants where they are used.
Q. KUSAM-MECO is known for offering a broad range of Digital Test Instruments. How do you ensure continuous innovation to meet changing market requirements and maintain leadership in this sector?
We are in constant touch with our customers as well as new Industries which are set up by Foreign Investors to get their requirements. Due to ever improving technology of new Industries, the requirements of these Industries demand measuring new Electrical Parameters. Keep this in mind we innovate by incorporating such Parameters in our Products to meet the new demands of the Industry so that they can run their Plants smoothly. Thereby, we can upgrade our Products to be in line with the times.
Q. With ISO 9001:2015 certification & a strong presence in various Industries, how does KUSAM-MECO uphold quality assurance & after- sales service to enhance Customer Satisfaction?
KUSAM-MECO has ISO 9001:2015 for Marketing and After-Sales Service for the Test & Measuring Instruments marketed by them. By following strict procedures, we provide after-sales service for all Instruments even after many years of use by the Customer. Because of our after-sales service, it creates dependability & Customer Satisfaction which reflects upon our Sales. Other Companies do not provide any after-sales service beyond the Warranty Period & the Customer has to suffer.
