LANXESS India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of theEuro 7.7 billion specialty chemical giant LANXESS AG with its significant investments in manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, has redefined benchmarks by walking on the path of developing a sustainable environment through investing in various sustainability measures and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. The German entity operates in 25 countries which is known for development, manufacturing and marketing of chemical intermediates, additives, specialty chemicals and plastics. The company is currently represented at 74 production sites worldwide. In India, manufacturing units of LANXESS are located in Nagda in Madhya Pradesh and Jhagadia in Gujarat. As LANXESS India sees it, conserving natural resources through the most efficient use of raw materials and energies is an inherent part of company’s ecological responsibility. The company frames its sustainable practices under the umbrella of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

LANXESS takes purposeful efforts and believes in the overall growth and development of the surroundings which has given the company an inherent image of a good corporate citizen and has also been appreciated by Indian Chemical Council (ICC) through various awards such as Water resource management award in 2009 and 2013, Excellence in Management of Health, Safety and Environment in 2012, Efficient Waste Management Award and Best Responsible Care Committed Company for the year awards in 2015.LANXESS India was also presented “The Green Excellence Award” by Frost and Sullivan, a global analyst and research firm as a part of their 2010 India Excellence in Chemicals, Materials and Food Awards. The emphasis of LANXESS on global and local compliance, development of environmentally friendly products and processes as well as its efforts to contribute to the community in every region of its operation have proven as the determinants for this recognition.

The company is significantly investing in sustainability projects in Nagda. With the start of its co-generation plant, LANXESS is able to meet most of its energy demand at its Nagda site. The cogeneration plant which is fueled by biomassfuel utilizes soya husk residue tomeet most of the power and steam requirements of the business unit Advanced Industrial Intermediates (AII) plant of LANXESS at the site.
