HARTING KGaAis extremely pleased with the course of this year’s Hannover Messe and with the results achieved. “Hannover was a tremendously successful event for us,”remarked Dietmar Harting, President/Partner of the Technology Group. A new record was set for the number of visitors to the main stand, which was expanded by around 50%to over 1,600 m². The number of foreign visitors was extremely high, standing at over 30% and includingmany Russian delegations and customers and interested parties from China. Russia was the partner country of this year’s trade fair held in the state capital of Lower Saxony. The trade fair was opened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The main attraction at the two-story HARTING stand in Hall 11 was an Auto ID demo-system which was operated live. The system simulated an intelligent production system of the future in which the products provide the information on their further processing and downstream handling. The scenario covered the entire value-creation chain including order intake, production and delivery to the customer.

HARTING is a full-range supplier of these individual solutions and a trailblazer in integrated industryin which physical products and information technology converge. Philipp Rösler, Federal Minister of Economics, who was received by Dietmar and Margrit Harting on the second day of the trade fair, showed a strong interest in the highly impressive demonstration. Other very welcome guests included Bernd Strauch, the mayor of Hannover, Christian Dürr, the president of the FDP faction in Lower Saxony’s state parliament, Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Messe AG, Dr. JochenKöckler, Executive Board member of Deutsche Messe AG and Oliver Frese, Divisional Director at DeutscheMesse AG.

Official representatives from the Mühlenkreisdistrict were also present in Hannover,as they are every year, to find out aboutfuture-oriented technologies and HARTING’s importance to future industry from the district’s largest employer. Dr. Ralf Niermann, head of the district authority, and Heinrich Vieker and Bernd Hachmann, the mayors of Espelkamp and Rahden, gained an insight on-location into the latest technological trends and developments at the local company. In addition to its main stand, HARTING also presented its innovations at the Mobil Tec and Wind Energy exhibitions and maintained an over 200 m² stand at the TectoYouinitiative for young people. Around 500 school pupils and students accepted HARTING’sinvitation to Hannover enabling them to discover the fascinating world of technology and the career opportunities and prospects it holds in store. Education Minister Prof. Dr. Johanna Wankavisited the HARTING stand at TectoYouon the first day of the trade fair and apprentices explained the “plug game” to her.

HARTING KGaAis one of the very few companies to regularly attend the trade fair in Hannover since its inception in 1947. In fact, Dietmar Harting has a unique relationship with the Hannover Messe as he attended the very first trade fair as a child with his father Wilhelm Harting, the founder of the HARTING Technology Group, and has not missed a single event since. In 2006, HARTING was presented with the Hermes Award, the industry trade fair’s international technology prize. HARTING was also involved in the event this time around. Dietmar Harting and Philip Harting, Senior Vice President Connectivity & Networks, participated in a panel debate as part of the tenth holding of the competition. They highlighted the great importance and significant value of family-run, medium-sized companies for the German economy.
