Product Innovations
Nucon cylinders are unique. They are tailor-made for a plethora of industries including automobile, wood working, oil & gas, packaging, power, cement, railways, defence, textiles, sugar, steel dairy, pharma, aluminium, paper, chemical, food & beverage and so on. Power sector is a major user of cylinders. Their seal kits are rugged. SMPs are aesthetically built. In heavy duty models, the piston rod and barrel size and thickness will change. Nucon’s air motors are of reciprocating type. The company has a monopoly in this business. It makes cylinders of various types. The impact cylinders are made of thin sheet metal. Then there are manual override cylinders, position cylinders and valve mounted cylinders.
The valves are also of a wide variety. There are special types of valves used in heavy duty cylinders. Most of the valves are sub-base mounted. In-line mounted valves are quite compact. The valves come with different actuators – manually operated, mechanical and solenoid types. One can also categorize these valves based on airlock or material of construction (S.S, brass or aluminium). Valves with S.S or brass body are made to order. Then there are florid, quick return or non-return valves with accessories which are ‘orgate’ or ‘andgate’. And the valves also go with a host of accessories like FRL’s, fittings, tubes, silencers and so on. Coming to FDS, Nucon offers micro filters which can remove dust particulates of up to 0.01 micron. These filters are also used for clean air applications.The dryers are again of different types: Refrigeration air dryers and Adsorption dryers. Refrigeration air dryers have a dew point of 3 deg C max whereas the adsorption dryers used for instrumentation have a dew point of -60 deg C. Nucon designs adsorption dryers for high pressure (400 bar) applications in defence, etc. Nucon also offers low cost automation solutions in pneumatics. Its aesthetically designed and in-line mounted cylinders are economy models.

Recent Achievements
Nucon has come up with several innovative solutions for the Railways ad the automotive sector. As a result of its relentless R & D, it has developed a door opening mechanism for the Railways. Using the same concept, it has also developed merry-go-around pits for wagon builders like Texmaco, Braithwaite and Modern Industries. For the automotive sector, it came up with an improved door opening mechanism. It has devised jack knife doors, out-swing doors, in-swing doors, finger protection devices, buzzers & blinkers, manual override in buses for safety in the event of power failure, etc. For airlines like the Spicejet, it has come up with additional step door under the chassis of the bus for ease of climbing. It has developed pneumatic doors to automate existing doors in busies. MSRTC, other bus body builders like Swaraj Mazda, JCB, Tata Motors, etc;. are the beneficiaries. It has also come up with different types of cylinders for the power sector as well as for OEMs of knife gate valves and butterfly valves.
Nucon has its modern ISO certified manufacturing facility in Pasamylaram near Hyderbad. It has a workforce of 250 dedicated employees with an uncanny eye for quality. Their requirements are special and they want everything yesterday. This is a good sign. And we are gearing up ourselves to meet these burgeoning demands” adds Mr. Patrick.
Similarly, Nucon feels a spurt in demand also from the automobile sector for pneumatic doors. “The gate valves segment is also upbeat and demanding. Our Agency Division is also generating more business.
