Fronius India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Fronius International GmbH, was founded in the burgeoning Indian market for innovative Welding Power Sources, Welding Automation and Welding Safety. In 2013, the cornerstone for an office in India was laid in Chakan in Pune, Maharashtra, which started operations in July 2013. Since inception, Fronius India has been adding skilled manpower to enhance its Sales, Application and Systems team in the Products & Services Management to focus on developing even more advanced products and services for the Indian market.

To date, Fronius India is the technology leader for welding products in India, in line with international safety standards and parameter – true to the motto ‘Make in India’. “At Fronius we have a complete Warehousing facility that functions as a strategic inventory management platform that allows our consumers to save time and costs to gain a competitive advantage. So, India is a major hub, not only for the Indian Industrial market but also for the technology transfer to our technical Institute Education segment,” says V.V. Kamath, Managing Director, Fronius India Pvt. Ltd.

Centres of Excellence

In May 2015, Fronius India inaugurated its first Centre of Excellence at an Educational Institute AKGEC, Ghaziabad to create a skilled workforce of Functional and Technical Welding Professionals. This was its first support activity that was established outside and this has been recognised as one of the competence centres with skilled resources to provide support for all manual and robotic welding services including skill up-gradation, implementation, and welding development. Subsequently, similar Centres of Excellence have been established across India.

After the successful start of its own ‘Innovation and Skill Centre’at Pune in Nov. 2020, Fronius India inaugurated its permanent facility in Pune to support the entire Fronius India customers with its products and solutions across India and SAARC countries.

Fronius is a globally recognised manufacturer and a specialist in welding power sources, welding safety solutions and services with decades of experience in this field. For the last three years in a row, Fronius India’s steady growth has been reckoned and commended by the parent company. Fronius has 36 subsidiaries with sales partners in 60 countries. Fronius also has 1366 active patents.

In India the company has offices in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Gurugram-New Delhi, Baroda, Chennai, Hyderabad, and sales & service personnel in various locations to cover the length and breadth of the country. Besides the sales team, it has a dedicated team of application and system engineers to support its customers in design and manufacture of their components as per standards, and to impart training.

Sustainable action

“Sustainable action is at the heart of everything we do at Fronius. Our Pune office is a carbon neutral building and 87% of our energy consumption comes from sustainable sources with careful collection and disposal of waste. Our focus is on efficient use of resources eliminating plastic in packaging of our products, thus being sustainable. All production sites are governed by the environmental management system certified according to ISO14001; 86 % of the entire direct energy consumed comes from renewable sources; we use 100% green power on site including our own 6,070 m² photovoltaic system with a generated output of more than 100 kWp and a yield of over
150 MWh in 2020,” elaborates Kamath.

Fronius offers its customers the largest range of innovative welding products, solutions, and services to achieve the company’s goal i.e. “Sustainable action at the heart of everything being done at Fronius. This has been the case since the very beginning of the company’s history; the impetus to extend the short service life of car batteries through more efficient use of available energy came about roughly 75 years ago. Today the company is placing more focus than ever on environmentally friendly solutions” as directed by CEO Ms. Elisabeth Engelbrechtsmüller-Strauß, Fronius International GmbH.

Providing a safe working environment

Dwelling on his growth strategies for India, Kamath has this to share: “Fronius India is the market leader for welding solutions & services with focus on safety as per EN ISO standard. Although the Indian market has an enormous potential, India has yet to pave its way to providing a safe working environment for the people. We’re also educating engineers from various Industry segments to increase their awareness on welding productivity, weld quality, and welding safety as sustainability is the cornerstone of our operating philosophy.

Team Fronius always strives to protect both men and machines to work safely and efficiently. Our goal is to increase customer awareness about international safety standards through our program. To make this end possible, we have online modules wherein our customer engineers can take sessions as per their own convenience. After every welding power source is sold, an auto-darkening helmet is mandatorily supplied to the buyer. We have long-term goals planned already.”
