Q. Please brief us about company’s Indian & global infrastructure?
My father Late. Mr. Shyam Merani established Jyoti Ceramic Inds. Pvt. Ltd. in 1970 and pioneered manufacturing of technical ceramics in India. During this journey of over 4 decades, Jyoti Ceramic Industries has garnered rich manufacturing experience and today is considered to be amongst the leaders in this field. Our manufacturing units are of international standards, each unit spread over 4 acres of land with lush green gardens, and are equipped with latest generation machinery. These units are well supported by an ultra-modern engineering workshop and state-of-the art R & D Lab which is recognized by the Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi. This Lab is equipped with sophisticated equipment such as microprocessor controlled electric and gas fired high temperature kilns, S.E.M, A.A.S, TG/DTA, X.R.D, X. R. F Laser Particle size analyzer etc. Currently Jyoti Ceramic exports 65% of its production to over 55 countries. We have established a sales subsidiary company in Germany and an office in U.S.A. to cater to our customers in Europe, U.S.A, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. We have also appointed distributors in Czech Republic, Turkey, Pakistan and Australia to enable speedier delivery to our customers across the globe.

Q. Please also highlight the latest initiatives in your industry domain?
Aside from pioneering Technical ceramic in India, Jyoti Ceramic has also to its credit developed many proprietary ceramic body formulations viz. Zirconia, Alumina, Cordierite, Frosterite, Steatite etc. While L.T. electric switch and fuse gear components, heater parts, lamp parts, mechanical pump seal rings, ceramic grinding media and ball mill linings are some of our products, we have successfully developed:
- Zirconox®: High purity zirconia micro-beads for nano particle size grinding
- Duralox® 997: 99.7% high purity Alumina Pyrometry sheaths, tubes, rods, single and multi– bore insulators etc. Jyoti may be the only company in the global arena to manufacture 1mtr. long, closed one end tubes by automatic dry bag ISO pressing.
- Zircosil®: Zirconium silicate based composite micro milling beads used for wet milling.
- Zircoat®: High temperature refractory coatings
- Aluma-coat®: Corrosion and Abrasion resistant ceramic coatings
- Adment™: A group of inorganic, high temperature resistant ceramic adhesive cements
- Ceramic spacers for shunt reactors
- Ziecon®: Zirconia ceramic dental blanks & restoratives

Q. What are the market opportunities for your company’s products in India?
With the world becoming a global village, awareness amongst people in the industry today is much higher and the demand for industrial ceramic products is ever increasing. Jyoti’s approach to the international and domestic markets does not differ since markets around the world have now become one competitive arena. Jyoti Ceramic caters to a wide range of customers and is capable of giving custom engineered solutions. Customers for Jyoti’s grinding media are from industries like paint, colour, ink, coating, pigment, mineral, food, cosmetic, chemical , ceramic etc. manufacturing industries. Our technical and advanced ceramic customers are from oil & gas, shipping, electrical, electronics, defense, etc. industries.

Q. Are there any plans for expansion & new investment in terms of product development or new technology adoption to cater the demand of the industry?
We at Jyoti Ceramic are constantly upgrading our machinery, equipment and technical skills in tandem with the technical advancement around the globe. In the year 2009, looking at the country’s growing demand for Ceramic Dental restoratives, we diversified into manufacturing bio-ceramic products. In our 1st phase we started manufacturing ceramic dental blanks and restoratives under the brand name Ziecon® with an in-house Dental Lab equipped with CAD/CAM Milling Center.

Undoubtedly, to be the first, most preferred and trusted choice for all customers. Jyoti Ceramic shall continue to build lasting relations by striving to provide best in quality yet cost effective solutions. After our success with Ziecon Ceramic Dental Blanks & restoratives, we have plans to further expand our bio-ceramic range of products to include ceramic prostheses for knee, hip joints, ears and other body parts.
