Professional achievements and career progression

My father was a real inspiration in choosing and building my career. In my early childhood days in Baroda when Refinery and GSFC projects came to Gujarat, I used to hear a lot about Chemical industries. Along with my father, I used to visit GSFC in my school days. I still remember the day when GSFC’s first plant was inaugurated. That day I decided to become a chemical engineer.

My father always used to encourage me saying, “Don’t put any limitations on your dreams just because you are a girl. This is one thing that helped throughout my life in achieving my goals in the professional career.

I started working as a Trainee Engineer at Atul Products Ltd., Valsad. Working with the engineering team helped me in shaping up my dream of becoming a good process design engineer.

I was selected by a Denmark Company called CHEMCONTROL A/S as their Indian counterpart for the projects report work on World Bank-aided projects on Pollution Control requirements in Indian chemical industries. We were required to study six Industrial Estates in India for complete environment management for water pollution, air pollution and land pollution control.

This assignment gave me lots of insights, exposure, and experience. It helped me to understand the needs of the chemical industries, the norms to be followed, and the statutory requirements. This was in the year 1990 when the authorities were still in the very initial stage of formulating the standards required for environment management. Interaction with European companies and the World Bank officials gave very good experience as well as confidence to work on environment management. I realized the needs of Chemical industries in India and the potential. Thus my journey as an Entrepreneur started in the year 1994.

Attributes that helped in career building

One needs a strong will power and dedication to build a career. You need to put in sincere efforts in whatever you do, unhindered by any kind of social limitations.

Challenging the stereotypes

If you do not put your limitation of being a woman, you can always succeed in your professional career as well as in balancing your family life.

How women entrepreneurs can broaden their horizons and become inspiring leaders of tomorrow

I believe that God has made women extra strong and smart by providing special power to be successful in everything they do. I call this the 6th sense of a womanpower. Women are already empowered by nature and they only need to use this power positively for their success. Women have the power to make this world a better place to live with better families, better society and better environment.

Impact of the pandemic

I will not differentiate the effect for woman or men. The effect can be mollified by a little extra effort. Whatever situation arises, Mother Nature always has a remedy. One should not lose hopes. The real solution lies in going ahead with confidence. Economy is a cycle; even without pandemics this cycle always rotates. Take the situation in your stride and move ahead.

Message for young working women

GIRLS! NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! LET US MAKE THIS WORLD A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE.
