Cooper Corporation promotes Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan; initiates cleanliness drive at Kass Plateau
Promoting the government’s Swatch Bharat initiative, Cooper Corporation one of world’s leading engine manufacturer based out of Satara, Maharashtra undertook a major cleanliness drive at one of the most popular tourist spot near Satara- Kass Plateau. The Kaas Plateau also known as the “KaasPathar” is a plateau situated in the Western GhatSahyadri range, 22 kilometers from Satara city in Maharashtra state of India and is known for various types of wild flowers which bloom during August-September every year.
The initiative was spearheaded by Ms. Manish Cooper, Director Marketing and Corporate Communications and team. This drive, which aimed at cleaning the entire Kaas plateau, also focused on sensitizing tourists about their role in maintaining bio-diversity in Kaas and encouraging eco-tourism at Kaas plateau. More than 150 employees of Cooper Corporation who volunteered for this initiative collected tons of garbage filled with plastic wastes, bottles and other left overs. The waste was disposed of at the Satara municipal dumping site.
Commenting on the initiative Ms. Manish Cooper, Director Marketing & Corporate Communication, said“With Cooper Corporation, the historic town of Satara has constantly witnessed a new wave of industrialization without losing its rich cultural heritage. We as an organization has always believed in maintaining and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the city, keeping this in view as part of our CSR activity we initiated the day long cleanliness drive at one of the world famous tourist spot, where our employees voluntarily took part and collected all kind of garbage dumped by the visitors.
Cooper employees by the end of the drive collected close to 150 bags of garbage. The company in future intends to take more such activities under their CSR initiative to keep the city of Satara clean.
