Dagger Master Tool Industries Ltd., headed by Mr. Vidhu Nevatia, Managing Director, is in the forefront of micro cutting tool technology. The pioneer in micro tools, Dagger Master has a joint venture with Zecha Hartmetall GmbH, Germany, a world leader in micro tool production with proven competence and a reputation spanning over seven decades.

Innovative designs
Dagger Master manufactures micro tools in diameter range 0.1 – 3 mm. “Eighty per cent of our production is in this popular range, though we also stock tools upto 8.00 mm, we are capable of manufacturing drills up to 12 mm,” says Mr. Mangesh Awate, DGM – Business Development. The company has two state-of-the-art manufacturing units in Aurangabad with the best of Swiss tool grinding machines and other sophisticated production and testing equipment for economical and high end precision tooling.

It makes Turbo range of High Performance drills from O.50-4.00 mm inclusion of coolant drills in the diameter range 1.2 – 4 mm. The specialty of this solid carbide twist drill is that it has an internal coolant hole and coolant reservoir in the shank. As the name suggests, these are turbo charged and inter cooled for high performance deep hole drilling in one or more strokes according to material and hole depth, yielding excellent ID finish. “For small Dia. up to 2.4mm, the shank has a “turbo-chamber” which guarantees a sufficient large flow of coolant even at a lower pressure. At identical pressure it is actually three times greater.Higher drilling speeds and improved tool life are direct effect of unique design of tool,” elucidates Mr. Awate.

The micro-windrills from Dagger Master needs special mention. These are twist drills with “quick chip” flute design with a degressive helix 35o down to 12o. The high attack angle at point and high flute strength at chip exit provide improved depth of drilling per stroke with axial thrust loads at entry, allowing aggressive speed rates. These drills are excellent for aluminium, copper, brass and long chipping materials.

Evodrill is the latest addition to the ever-expanding range of products. This is a single drill for all types of materials – softer to harder. There is also a drill-cum-back chamfer, a revolutionary product from Dagger Master’s crucible, chiseled out based on the customer feedback.

Micro End Mills from 0.50 – 3.0 mm are also now in stock for medical & dental applications making Dagger Master a one-stop-solution for all drilling & milling needs for micro machining.

Elaborating on the quality regimen, Mr. Awate adds that the drills are made on the best of imported production equipment. “Why only production, we also have high tech inspection equipment to check the quality of these precision engineered products at every stage of manufacture. The systems and practices that we follow ensure that each and every product is inspected before it dispatch from factory. As a matter of fact, the set-up we have in Aurangabad is identical as of our Partner in Germany. Since 70% of our production goes to the European and US markets, we need not overemphasize the quality standards prevailing at our end,” remarks Mr. Awate.

Dagger Master has comprehensive tooling solutions for the automotive industry, like fuel injection parts, common rail parts, turbo charger parts, steering components, automotive transmission and power transmission components. Working with the customer
Dagger Master stays in close interaction with the customer to understand his problems and devise solutions on a continuing basis. The company helps the customer in reducing the cost per component and in enhancing productivity. Mr. Awate explains: “The life of a tool depends on several factors like machine clamping, work-holding, tool-holding, feed and speed. The customer wants more production in less time. This is enabled by the high feed parameters. The tooling cost comes to anywhere around 4-6% of the component cost. We have high end products to help optimize the feed parameters and enhance productivity.”

Dagger Master has two modern manufacturing facilities in Chikalthana and Shendra in the historic city of Aurangabad. Among an enchanting array of world-class production & testing equipment, it also houses modern machine for quality inspection and for pre & post manufacturing process. The tools in microns are manufactured in controlled atmosphere and temperature to ensure zero defect. The plants have centralized filtration systems in place. The company has a dedicated workforce of 100 well-trained people with an uncanny eye for quality and precision. It has a full-fledged R & D set-up which works in tandem with the global R & D center at Zecha in Germany. It works on new product developments to meet the emerging needs and improvising the existing ones based on the market feedback.
