Quark 2016 : The Blend of talent & innovation

Through Quark Summer Technical Project , in short QSTP, quark 2016 endeavors to support the zeal for creation and innovation by encouraging students to take up projects during summer under the guidance of a mentor. The projects encompass various fields related to Electronics, Robotics, Aerodynamics, Astrophysics and Development with experienced mentors proficient in their fields.

Here are list of some of the projects made by students of Bits Pilani during summer :

final aim:
To learn solidworks for solid modelling and use solid modelling to visualize bots.

    1. Robot Design using SolidWorks:List of topics covered:
      1. Sketching in solidworks.
      2. Part modelling.
      3. Assembly modelling.
      4. Introduction to bottom up design approach.
    2. Radio-Frequency Bot Project:
      The aim of the RF Controlled Bot qSTP was to make a bot whose movement are wirelessly controlled using rf modules.
      The topics covered were Arduino programming, UART basics, and interfacing of the following with the arduino-

      1. LEDs
      2. L294d Motor Driver
      3. RF Modules
  1. Fundamental Analyisis of Stock Markets:Topics covered:
    1. Why is there a need to invest ?
    2. Types of Asset Classes
    3. Fundamentals of Stock Market covering topics like Securities and Exchange Board of India ( SEBI) ,Broker, DEMAT account among many other interesting topics in Stock Market.
    4. About Initial Public Offering (IPO) and the sequence of events involved in getting a IPO (from the company’s perspective).
    5. Working of Stock Market
    6. Commonly Used Jargons in Stock Market.
    7. The effect of compunding
    8. Tools used by Fundamental Analysts
    9. The difference in mindset of and investor,speculator and a trader
    10. Qualitative and Quantitative aspects of a company
    11. SWOT Analysis
    12. Different types of ratios involved for analysing a stock
    13. Brief Explanation of Profitability Ratios
    14. Brief explanation of Operating ratios

  3. Chess playing bot using algorithms from Artificial Intelligence (AI):Topics they learnt:
    1. Planning and Search
    2. Constraint Satisfaction Problems
    3. Game Playing Agents
    4. Markov Decision Processes and
    5. Reinforcement Learning.

    Programming language used: Python

    Final aim: To build a bot that is capable of playing chess against a human, using concepts of AI

    4. Power system design for the bot
    5. Gait design for the bot
