CHANGEXCHANGE RBSM IN ELECRAMA – 2012
Recap
276 buyers from 31 countries from Africa, ASEAN, CIS and Latin America attended this mega RBSM spread over five days, held in conjunction with ELECRAMA-2012, the world’s largest electrical transmission and distribution exhibition organised by IEEMA. A few select foreign journalists were also invited as part of the foreign delegations. 20 foreign diplomats based in India, including some Ambassadors and High Commissioners, also accompanied their delegations. Some of the foreign delegations were led by Ministers and senior Government Officials of the Electricity / Energy Ministries / Departments.

African delegation was the largest and included 234 buyers from Benin, Botswana, Burundi, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

There were 14 ASEAN buyers representing Malaysia and Thailand. 4 CIS buyers from Belarus, Georgia, Uzbekistan along with 24 Latin American buyers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay participated at the event. 683 Indian sellers represented the India supply side at ChangeXChange event and included major Indian companies manufacturing electrical equipment.

The Indian electrical equipment manufacturing industry has been in existence in India since more than 100 years and today it’s a mature, diversified industry with a robust supply chain and capability to manufacture equipment Right from 100V to 1200 kV. India boosts of the largest Load Dispatch Center in the world and has the largest 765 kv transmission network. Huge additions are planned to further strengthen this network for evacuation of power offering offers business opportunities of US$ 500 Billion over next 5 years.

Legacy of performance:
IEEMA created a global business vehicle ELECRAMA in 1990, which has grown from strength to strength to emerge as the Single largest T & D Exhibition in the world. As in the past, I am sure that ELECRAMA-2014 will continue to provide an excellent opportunity to Indian manufacturers to showcase their products and technologies & manufacturing capabilities to a global audience whom we whole heartedly welcome to our great country. ELECRAMA exhibition was conceptualized with the objective of providing a global window to showcase Indian Electrical equipment manufacturing capabilities. More than 90% of the electrical equipment installed in India has been manufactured indigenously. The mature Indian electrical manufacturing fraternity is now increasingly looking outwards to grow exports as a huge opportunity exists.

ELECRAMA 2014 @ Bangalore:
ELECRAMA-2014 is being held for the first time at BIEC – Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, India’s first “LEED-Certified” Green Exhibition & Conference Facility at Bangalore. The purpose built 34 acres of beautifully landscaped complex has covered Pillar -less air-conditioned exhibition space. A multi-facility conference centre spread over 5,600 sqm including 4 Conference Halls, a Helipad, an Amphitheater, VIP Lounge, Food Court of 7,500 sqm, and large outdoor area including grassy lawns.

The activity culminates with cash prizes and recognition at the specially organized Innovation Day event .

Further India is strategically placed to export to South East Asia, Middle East and African Regions including Europe and Latin America. India also exports a large variety of equipment to USA and Canada. The quality of the Indian Electrical Equipment is robust and the prices are highly competitive and the technology is contemporary.

Indian Electrical equipment manufacturers have once again demonstrated their capabilities by indigenising in a short span of just 5 years the latest technologies and by successfully developing the world’s first 1200 kV transmission system .

The current size if Indian electrical equipment industry is above INR 1.25 lakh crores (US$ 25 billion) and comprises of,

  • Generation equipment (boilers, turbines, generators) and

IEEMA, The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association is the apex national level Industry body of manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment in India was Founded in 1948, IEEMA has a pan India presence with its headquarters in Mumbai and regional offices in New Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.
