Q. How the Exhibition will help in exploring untapped potential of the East and Northeast regions?
The east and northeast regions of our country has very high untapped potential. However, there is a perception in the minds of the people connected with the sector of power and electrical industry that nothing much is happening in these regions. I feel that, more efforts are needed to remove this perception form the minds of the people. The need of the hour is therefore to make a sincere public relation exercise and create vibrancy in these regions. This can best be done by the industry based in these regions as their stake is more. POWERELEC-EAST 2015 is a small step in this direction aimed at bringing the industry together on one platform to create a buzz about the industry and its prospects in these regions. I believe that the road is long and difficult but somebody has to take that step forward to make this happen. POWERELEC-EAST 2015 has taken that step.

Q. What major innovations can we expect to witness at the Expo?
As explained above, this is a first step and objective is to carry out a public relations exercise to make these regions vibrant. Innovations take place and will be displayed in POWERELEC-EAST also, I invite you to visit the Show to witness these innovations yourself.

Q. As the nation is emphasizing upon ‘Make in India’, how the exhibition can promote this theme further to encourage indigenization in India?
POWERELEC-EAST 2015 is an attempt to project and promote ‘Made in India’ products and technologies. We believe that the exhibition will encourage Indian players to showcase their products and in a way promote the ‘Made in India’ brand.

Q. How this expo will provide platform to the entrepreneurs to discuss the challenges and share best practices?
To share knowledge and best practices, we are organizing a seminar on ‘Electricity Distribution – A Way Forward’, where experts will discuss the latest technologies used and new practices followed in distribution. This seminar is being chaired by Shri N.S. Nigam, CMD of West Bengal Electricity Distribution Corporation with base paper presented by PwC. The speakers include experts from utilities, distribution franchisee and the industry. This seminar will provide a platform to network and learn new technologies and practices.

Q. Please throw some light on the major participants and the country pavilions.
Being the first exhibition of this kind in eastern part of India, there are no country pavilions. Some of the major players participating in this exhibition include Anchor, Greaves Cotton, Polycab, Skipper, Supreme, Yokogawa etc.

Q. The opportunities POWERELEC-EAST expo will give to its Exhibitors?
We have carried out a planned visitor promotion campaign for the past 6 months through direct mailing, emailing blasts, newspapers advertising, hoardings, bus back panels followed by reaching through the electronic media. We believe this exhibition offers an unique opportunities to the exhibitors to explore the east & northeast markets and meet prospective buyers from these regions.

Q. Due to the increasing cost and attention on power savings mode, business players are switching to green technology. What is your take on it? How the expo will help the visitors to get green solutions?
Considering the future of the mankind, it is necessary for the present generation to use green solutions so as to conserve the available resources. Alternate energy and energy efficient products are two examples of such green solutions. Use of renewable energies like hydro and solar will provide required energy to mankind on one hand and save environment of the planet since these are clean technologies with no-emissions from such sources. There will be energy efficient products on display at this exhibition and visitor will have benefit of knowing about such products.
