India is just maturing from a consumer of typical 3-axis machine to 4 and 5 axis machines. Whereas western world pre-dominantly uses, only 4 and 5-axis Solutions. There is still some way for Indian machine tool users to adopt more and more of 4 and 5 Axis integrated machines. As of now machines available in India are with add on 4th & 5th Axis solutions. There is a huge opportunity for UCAM to export its special products to International machine tool builders for integrating it into their machines and we are making good head way in this. We expect to be one among the dominant player in the next few years in this product segment

Q. UCAM being the key player in rotary table space, Please brief us about recent initiatives undertaken in machine tool space? Which are your focus areas?
Being a leading manufacturer in rotary tables arena for more than 25 years, UCAM has always focused on innovation and new technology developments. As per the current machine tool industry need of high speed and high efficiency rotary tables, UCAM has developed an innovative Direct Drive Rotary Tables. These Rotary Tables reduces the component machining cycle time significantly and are known for their high speed and dynamic performance. The High-Tech Direct Drive Rotary Tables with the backward integration of Torque Motors provide customer total solutions for both indexing and rotary interpolation applications.UCAM is also focused on bringing new integrated 5 axis machining solutions like Cantilever Tables, Direct Drive Tilting Head, and Deep Tilting Direct Drive Tables for the machine tool builders and also Large Size Rotary Tables for India and International market.

Q. What are the market opportunities for UCAM products in India? How do you plan to position these products?
There is good opportunity for UCAM in the market due to demand for high speed and improved productivity by the products from our house. Existing 3-axis machine users are gradually demanding high performance products to cut down their cycle time and increase their productivity. We work closely with all Indian Machine Tool Builders to provide customized integrated machining solutions and as well as end users across India to provide standard rotary axis machining solutions including mechanical and electrical interfacing. UCAM products add value with tailor made solutions to existing 3-axis machines and OEM’s machines respectively.

Q. What is your marketing strategy for India?
To deliver right product with proper solution to the customers in a swift manner. We actively participate in 8-10 trade shows in India spread across various regions. IMTEX Exhibition has always been our big platform for showcasing our technology capabilities and innovative products to the market.

Q. Product innovation through R&D is vital to be forrader in the competition, as per your opinion how does R&D plays the role of catalyst in the success process?
Our In-house R&D recognized by the Department of Science and Industrial Research (DSIR), develops customer focused, cost effective solutions. We have been associated with various Institutes and Universities in India and abroad like IIT-Delhi, ICAMT, CMTI, Munich University, and Fraunhofer for higher level expertise in design and manufacturing. Our sincere efforts in R&D on Direct Drive Rotary Table backward integration of Torque Motors has taken UCAM to the next level in providing indigenous and cost effective solutions.

Q. Quality standards are benchmarked by the product performance; please brief us how do you maintain the quality norms since from product manufacturing to implementation?
First of all we have stringent quality management system in place, which is continuously monitored and upgraded. Quality starts right at the design stage itself. For the subcontracted parts UCAM has quality certified vendors who adhere to UCAM standards. Critical components are subjected to strict tolerance so as to match the quality standards of the product. UCAM products are continuously benchmarked with international leading brands, also we follow industry laid down standards and we have invested very heavily on quality control and testing infrastructure.

Q. Could you brief us on Indian & Global perspective of CNC rotary table industry?

Q. According you what are the factors affecting to your business?
The slowdown in the Indian economy has impacted the machine tool industry. However, we can see positive signs that could help revive the Machine tool industry.

Q. What are the key technological trends that are driving your industry?
There is an increase in the popularity among Machine Tool Builders for Multi-axis machining solutions, where one can complete all machining operations in one set up. Also they offer high precision and improved reliability. There is a gradual increase in demand for high speed and accurate, Direct Drive Rotary Tables across various industries.

Q. What is your vision for your company?
To be one among the top five companies in world in rotary table manufacturing space in the next 4 years.

Q. Please let us know the issues you need to address that are related to your industry.
Logistics and Supply chain still remains a serious area of concern which machine tool companies are focusing fighting to resolve. Skill and Manpower is another area, which needs to be addressed.

Q. What is your advise to the Indian SMEs to achieve global competitiveness?
International Customers always expect a quick response from any Supplier, for Indian SMEs to achieve global competitiveness they should be very swift and quick in responding, also they should be flexible enough to accommodate the high demands made from their international Customers.
