Q. History of the company?
The founder of the company Mr. Pravinbhai Dudakiya closely is associated with the well-known AVPTI – Rajkot. In 1971 he has decided to start his own fabrication unit namely M/s. Day-light Industries, and completed many big project like IOC, oil mill, installation of foundries, theaters etc. In 1981, he has established his new unit in manufacturing activity i.e. M/s. DOWEL ENGINEERING WORKS. The motto of the company is to supply quality hydraulic press and provide efficient after sales services. He is self made person and very hard working personality. Under his guidance the company has developed many Special Purpose Machines. His strong determination is come out in his one line sentence it.’
WE HAVE TO MAKE THE HYDRAULIC PRESS OF CUSTOMER’S EXPECTION’. He always strongly insists to use quality raw material. His ethics and enriched knowledge has given right path to the industry, and supply many machines in reputed industries. He has participated in many national and international level exhibitions, like IMTEX, Enterprise, Engimech, etc. in India. He had visited Germany exhibition, and the adopting latest technology. He has made hydraulic press of international quality and standard.
In the next generation Mr. Tejas Dudakiya is now looking after day-to-day business activity. He is a Mechanical Engineer. He is very young and dynamic personality. He had proved his self during his engineering education; his project has received very prestigious, in all India Inter College Project Competition, at Chennai. In 2007, he has established his new plant “DOWEL MACHINERY PVT. LTD.” which located at Veraval (Shapar) (15 km. from Rajkot). Now he is totally concentrating on production activity and sales market. He has regularly visited International exhibition like EMO, Euroblech, TIMTOS, SIMTOS etc. He is strongly insisting to achieve international standard in manufacturing hydraulic press. So far concern to our mission I always like to state few lines of poet Robert Froest “The woods are lovely dark & deep, but I have promise to keep, and miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep.” He had proved his self in business line & social work. At Present he is a Director in M/s. Machine Tools Manufacturers Association – Rajkot since last 7 years.

The company is equipped with most modern manufacturing facilities, highly qualified team of engineers, having latest mother machinery. ‘DMPL’ having extensive marketing network supported by effective after sales service, which has kept us close to be ideals in tune with its markets & customers.
The promoter of the company belongs to the ‘DOWEL’ group, who is leading and in this industry since last 30 years and having more than 3200 end users, which include many national and international reputed companies. Our production range is too wide, as well as also expert to make “Application Selling Presses”.
On basis of requirement and demand of current stream, customers ask special purpose machinery, which give them high productivity as well as accurate quality. We have decided to manufacture heavy duty and high capacity machinery having latest modern technology. On platform of wide experience in the industry, The ‘DMPL’ established in 2007 & become a one of the rapid growing company. The company had supplied many special designed as well as S.P.M. as per customer specific requirement. Q. Overview of the plant (Production capacity, size, product, market area)?
‘DMPL’ is equipped with most modern manufacturing facilities having all mother machinery like, Lathes, Drills, Shaping, Hydraulic Press, honing, grinding, CNC lathe, all precision measuring instruments, CNC Profile Cutting Machine & hand tools. ‘DMPL’ has highly qualified team of engineers with extensive marketing network supported by effective after sales service. We apply the most modern techniques in the designing field. The CAD/CAM is widely used and the personnel are highly qualified. The company has own developed & upgraded CAD/CAM facilities to enhance machine’s design.
The company has one office & service center in hard of city in 380-sq./m area. The main plant of the company is located at Veraval (Shapar), which 15 km. far from Rajkot. The main Plant had 2000 sq./m land area. The company has well-furnished offices as well as CAD/CAM designing center as well as R & D Center. The company is registering with factory act under 1948 & 1963 & labor acts.

“DMPL” has very huge market in India as well as abroad. We mostly export Presses to African Countries, Gulf Countries, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bahrain etc. We have regular supply in all Corporate Companies, Govt. Sector, Defence, Large, Medium & Small scale ind. also.
Q. Post-recession what have been the major changes in your product portfolio to meet the changing needs of the market?
Actually since last 3 years we are focus on Application Selling Press which help us most to avoid recession. However, we do some necessary changes in our marketing network & improve it & also improve our export market.
Q. Tell us something about your products as it has well-accepted in almost all engineering sectors.
The presses are engaged with the works of auto service station, workshop, pressing of ball bearing, remove & mounting of bushes & bearings, straightening, pressing, baling, drawing, embossing, broaching, bending, breaking, joining of steel, in plastic, rubber & plywood industries, in electric motors, submersible pump etc. industries, gold / silver coin monogram embossing, mosaic tiles, bakelite parts, textile part industries, bellows, cable trays, in fiber glass reinforced plastic industries, food industries, shipping industries etc.
Q. Brief us something about the R&D effort of the company.
‘DMPL’ is equipped with most modern R & D Department. ‘DMPL’ has highly qualified team for R & D with extensive experience & knowledge. We apply the most modern techniques in the R & D. The CAD/CAM is widely used in R & D. The company has own developed & upgraded R & D center.
Q. What are the best practices adopted by you on the shop floor?
Over more than 32 years experience in the Hydraulic Filed, we have very huge experience. We do machining in CNC & VMC. Since last 2 years, we follow Taiwan’s Outsourcing Vendor culture for better accuracy in very short time.
Q. What are your strategies to gain foothold in Indian market and where does the Veraval (Shapar) plant feature in this?
Our best after sales service, easy availability of spares across the globe, timely delivery, user friendly, best product quality as well as performance & also operator’s safety features are help us to foothold in Indian as well as abroad market.
Q. What are the quality approach adopted by your company to enhance efficiency?
“DMPL” is ISO 9000:2008 certified company & at present implement Japanese 5 S cultural as it on final stage.
Q. Kindly highlight 3 key manufacturing practices that have been critical for the success of the company in India.?
1) Horizontal Press specially design for Submersible industries to weld their pump in pressing condition with rotating as well as welding attachment.
2) Automatic Triple Compression Metal Scrape Baling Press.
3) High Speed Presses for Brass Industries.
Q. How do you stay ahead of the competition?
Actually, we not face competition so much due to our main focus on “Application Selling Press”. However our plus points are after sales service, easy availability of spares, timely delivery, user friendly, best product quality as well as performance & also operator’s safety features & wide experience & well known brand name.
Q. How do you manage the logistics on domestics and international basics?
We are mainly using road transport for domestic market & sometimes using railway. For International market we are using road + See logistic as well as sometimes air logistic.
Q. What initiatives have been taken by you to be environment-efficient?
We are so much caring about environment. We have not much pollution. The company is registering with factory act under 1948 & 1963 & follow all points to care environment.
Q. What are your expansion plans?
We are going to our new plant on same place where at present we located in 1600 sq. / meter. We are going to develop fully automatic Transmission Line Machineries, as well as High Speed Hydraulic Press and Robotic Deep Drawing Press as well as automatic Iron Worker & other sheet metal machineries.
