German Consul General Mr. Michael Siebert, honoured Mr. Om Prakash, Director In ORBIT Tours Pvt. Ltd. and presented the AWARD for his outstanding contribution for promotion of Business and Leisure travel to Germany for over 4 decades. While presenting the AWARD at the Press Conference held at Ambassador Hotel, on 26th May 2015 Mr. Michael Siebert said that he was extremely happy to honour Mr. Om Prakash for his passion for over 40 years for his country, Germany. Mr. Siebert said that it is a rare example of dedication which has contributed in the development of Indo-German Economic Relations. He urged Mr. Om Prakash to continue his mission and wished him continuous success.

Earlier Mr. Hector Dsouza, Director – India, SouthWest German Tourism presented the account of Mr. Om Prakash’s dedicated journey of 43 years since 1972 (his first visit to Germany). Mr. Hector Dsouza said that Mr. Om Prakash’s contribution has helped Indian businessmen and leisure travellers to experience the treasures of Germany and especially of Stuttgart region and the State of Baden Wurttemberg, the most technologically advanced State of Germany. He further provided the figures of phenomenon increase in the Indian visitors to SouthWest Germany. He said he was proud of Mr. Om Prakash for getting this prestigious AWARD.

While replying to the Consul General of Germany and Mr. Hector Dsouza for the AWARD, Mr. Om Prakash expressed his gratitude to the German Authorities for the Honour & Award once again at this juncture of his life. He assured to continue his passion and dedication for Germany.

Mr. Om Prakash, narrated the brief account of his journey of over 4 decades. He recalled the difficulties that he faced in 1970s and 1980s to promote Germany, when India was passing through an acute shortage of foreign exchange and the implementation of stringent rules to obtain foreign exchange for the travel abroad. He also appraised the members of the Press Conference that he used to travel to all the States of India to promote German Trade fairs and to motivate Indian businessmen to travel to Germany. Many a times the officials of Indo German Chamber of Commerce also accompanied him for such promotional visits all over India. The much in discussion “Make in India” slogan was actually activated many years ago by him, when the industry visitors to German trade fairs subsequently converted into Indian exhibitors and projected the Indian products to the world. Currently Mr. Om Prakash through his company In ORBIT Tours Pvt. Ltd. is busy promoting leading German trade fairs of Hannover (where Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi recently visited), Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart.

Mr. Om Prakash’s contribution, which was instrumental to increase the number of Indian businessmen to Germany was recognized by German Authorities and he was presented Indo German Awards 3 times in 1985, 1995 & 1999. Messe Dusseldorf the leading German trade fairs Organisors, honoured him by appointing him as Honorary Ambassador of Messe Dusseldorf in India. Mr. Om Prakash received many international Awards from USA, UK, China and other countries. He was repeatedly interviewed on TV and media in many countries. He also received many prestigious Awards in India. He was also elected as Chairman, Travel Agents Association of India (WR) from 2006 – 2008.

To a question, he answered that he never thought of Awards or Rewards, which certainly inspired him to maintain his passion even at this stage of his life. He re-assured to the Consul General of Germany that he will continue with his mission to promote Germany during his lifetime. Mr. Om Prakash thanked the media members present at the Press Conference.
