Q. How would you introduce your company in two minutes?
We are one of the largest manufacturers of Steam Boilers and its associated equipment such as Steam Turbines, ESP, Bag Filters , etc. In India, we have two boiler manufacturing plants located at Vapi, Gujarat and our Steam Turbine plant at Greater Noida, which is our wholly owned subsidiary  named IB Turbo Pvt. Ltd. We manufacture between 240 to 300 boilers annually and have supplied over 6000 boilers so far.  Our Boilers have certifications such as ISO 9001:2008, ASME-R,U,S, & PP Stamps, Eurocert -CE, and IBR. We offer Waste to Energy solutions and are the only company to offer Co-Generation of power as a one point solutions provider.

Q. What’s the role you have played in conceptualizing the business line you are in and nurturing it?
As a family business, we were into imports and maintenance of boilers. After my marriage & with encouragement from my family and my father in law, we visualized entering the field of  manufacture of boilers. We started the first unit in Vapi in 1978. I have been involved in the business since inception.

Q. What’s the difference you could make to the Organisation?
As we branched into boiler manufacturing from the field of boiler servicing, it was very challenging for me as a woman entrepreneur. As most industries during the initial stages of start-up face severe financial crunch, my instincts helped our company manage with our scarce resources. Also, my background in back office and marketing helped us to secure new business & grow.

Q. What are the success conducive attitudes that helped you in building the organization?
‘Humata : Hukta : Havarashta’ ( Good Thoughts , Good Words & Good Deeds ) which are the guiding principles of my religion (Zoroastrianism) helped in giving  the correct attitudes to one and all. Honesty and to give the Best Quality of product to my customer was and still is the most successful attitude to build & grow the business. We offer solutions to meet our client’s needs and this helps us to develop our customer’s faith and confidence.

Q. We know you are a charismatic leader. Leaders are born or made?
Leaders are not born but are made with years of hard work and experience. This gives leaders the ‘cutting edge’ to lead their team and business to success and glory.

Q. What have you learned from the Past?
To judge people on face value and decide whether  to trust them or not, to avoid all kinds of litigation and solve all problems at the root level before it gets any bigger and  to maintain cordial relations with your client, vendors, suppliers, and also with all Govt. offices and officers.

Q. Could you elaborate on your work ethos?
Honesty in whatever you do is first and foremost. Treat your staff and workers as your own family members. At my age of 75, I attend office daily and set an example for work culture.

Q. What rejoices you at the workplace?
Meeting various people and overseeing the day-to-day overall operations and working of the company.

Q. Any Award or encomium you cherish the most?
National Productivity Council’s (NPC) ‘First Productivity Award’ in the Engineering sector received in 1982 at the hands of Hon. Shri N.D.Tiwari – the then  Minister of Industry & several other Awards.

Q. What are the comments on the prevailing business environment? How conducive is it to growth of your business?
The present overall business scenario is not very encouraging and this in turn affects our boiler business as well because capital goods industry such as ours is the first to be affected. However, having said that, there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel.

Industrial Boilers Ltd. (IBL)Q. What are the challenges ahead for you?
To hold the family business together, expansion in our own business and enter newer related fields are the key challenges. To improve our existing product portfolio with our in house R&D and make State-of-the-art Boilers which Conserve Energy & Control Pollution. Our new in-house  R&D products – viz. Sterling Engines & Gassifiers, are in the process of being standardized for regular production.

Q. What’s your vision for your company?
To ensure growth of the company but at the same time, maintain a financially healthy, debt-free company and continue to be among the top three in our field & product portfolio.
