Q. How would you introduce your company in two minutes?

We are a truly indigenous company that proudly, consistently and repeatedly builds disruptively, innovative product solutions that become game changers for the fabrication and structural steel industry.  These innovations are born and molded on our shop floor with inputs of operators and users, addressing their specific pain points.

Q. What’s the role you have played in conceptualizing the business line you are in, and in nurturing it?

For first decade and half I had been working to grow this paradigm shifting product range: proudly “made in India”. Now I assist them successfully implement innovative projects emerging from Plazma’s Design Team. In my role as the managing director of the company, as a compassionate nurturer, honing various talents of my team, ensuring that it remains vibrant and ever- evolving.

Q. What’s the difference you could make to the organization?

I successfully built a conducive and interactive environment in the company and consistently created ‘safe zones’ within the organisational culture where teams interact without judgment or retribution, share ideas, thoughts, solutions and dreams with each other with complete freedom of expression. This expands in to a holistic approach to the work environment, where each project team sees every project executed from the prism of Plazma’s innovative technical and engineering ‘ Brand’ domain.

I consistently motivate teams of our suppliers, vendors, customers and Plazma team members towards a larger vision where each one develops their own environmental well being. This is not only from the  monitory point of view but also  with a balance of healthy life styles and a spiritual bend of mind. Excellence is the criteria I consistently motivate from the ‘development lab’ to the shop floor.

Q. What are the success conducive attitudes that helped you in building the organisation?

I have developed solid ‘systems of self discipline’ within my teams’ work- flow patterns and interactions’. This motivates a work environment enabling conducive, positive discussions. In a manner this also creates a sense of ownership among the project team leaders thus ensuring 100% project success.

Arundhati, Managing Director, Plazma Technologies Pvt. Ltd.Q. We know you are a charismatic leader.  Leaders are born or made?

Leaders are made through belief in an undeviating vision, grit, perseverance and most importantly compassion towards their environment. Our biggest capital is the people who work with us. This unfailingly leads them to grow and to consistently evolve with the sterling ‘RoboPlazma’ reputation.

Q. What have you learned from the past?

In India what’s needed is an abundance of patience when things do not move as fast as we would optimally like them to. The game plan an engineering company needs, is to build and take into account the larger gestation period for projects to succeed along with the adequate support of  innovative mechanisms  to fund,  develop  and enhance business strategies.

Q. Could you elaborate your work ethos?

I strive to motivate our teams to treat work as a place to hone their identity by creating something meaningful every day. They should identify excellence by owning their creations and feeling proud of what they achieve. This work ethos generates a sense of belonging within each of the Plazma members coming to work. It is this type of continuous, motivational innovation that keeps the environment alive and thriving.

Q. What rejoices you at the workplace?

I derive immense satisfaction when I watch our teams develop innovative blueprints in our Tech Center: be it software, robotics, engineering or hardware or services. Watching an idea taking shape into an unbeatable solution or watching people brainstorm to push forward in a workplace brimming with  creative motivations, is very joyful…

What continuously inspires me is, when all heads of the department connect every week to brainstorm how they collectively make the projects move forward; where everyone belongs to the team. Every time the leader changes, it is dynamic and vibrant with many leaders and team players.

Q. Any award or encomium you cherish the most?

I especially cherish the times when the operators of my systems tell me how it has changed their working environment and improved their output; and also when they offer to share tea with me on the shop floor; or the times when my decades long time customers keep coming back, with a smile to say that our products helped them meet global standards as leaders in their respective fields.

Those precious cups of chai and those smiles are priceless rewards that surpass any  of the awards I have won. Continuing to earn that cup of chai and to see the smiles of my customers is what motivates my going to work!

Q. What are your comments on the prevailing business environment and how conducive is it to growth of your business?

We have to contend with huge challenges in our country. Creating a skilled work force and work culture along with channels of innovation funding will build a vibrant India. It is high time, more Indians rise and  believe in this dynamic India, where Indians help each other grow boldly together. The world believes we are a force to reckon with… It’s time we believe it and work together as a team. We have the wherewithal.

Q.  What are the challenges ahead for you?

To stay ahead in the ‘innovation curve’ and keep bringing in products that define technical excellence. To create awareness and confidence amongst Indian Investors that funding a revolutionary idea/technology pays. Frankly, finding funding for an engineering company is the biggest challenge!
