Q. What do you think about the idea of a national-level automation competition for college students?

It is really good initiative which would help the students to apply learning into practice and develop some kind of solution to real world problem. The Mitsubishi Electric Cup is the competition for automation where in all basic branches of engineering can participate. The whole concept of this competition is to provide Industry like platform where in students have to collaborate, innovate and execute the complete projects using world class Factory Automation components. Generally, such type of exposure is only available on job and rare for the students.  This competition makes students ready for industry in their student life itself.

Q. How did the idea of a tie-up with Mitsubishi Electric for the ME Cup come up?

It is through association between Mitsubishi Electric India private limited.

Q. As you were part of First ME CUP as advisor and member of Jury, what is your opinion about the contribution of ME CUP in the skill development of participating students?

This ME cup is really beneficial for the students to improve the skill sets such as hardware selection, writing software, integration and making system work for practical purposes. Also it proposes some innovative solution for the real industry problem. This also helps to foster the life skills for the students.

Q. What are your thoughts on the theme for this year’s ME Cup?

Theme “Intelligent Manufacturing for a Greener Tomorrow” is indeed a contemporary that focuses on intelligent solution for manufacturing Industries while looking at the challenges for environment ahead.

Q. What role did CoEP play during the awareness campaign for the ME Cup?

COEP has distributed more than 1500 posters to Institutes across India. Additionally, COEP students and faculty members visited various campuses for campaign in and around Pune and conducted seminar and interaction with students.

Q. Can you explain the steps that were involved in undertaking the awareness campaign and reaching out to different institutes across the country?

COEP is very active in terms of the organization of different types of events in Campus. The faculties and students have very good experience to handle awareness campaign to reach out to the right audience. We have done many activities like mass emails, information sharing through social media & websites, through Whatsapp communications, circulation of posters, etc.

Q. What is your opinion about the proposals received from Participants for MECUP 2?

The project submitted by participants are really innovative and worth evaluating. It was really a tough task for judges to short list 35 teams out of more than 100 proposals received.

Q. What kind of response has the CoEP team received from different institutes for the ME Cup?

Response is really good and participants are very keen to participate in ME Cup and such kind of activity should be continued in the future.

Q. What role did the student volunteers from CoEP play during the awareness campaign?

As I mentioned earlier, students were involved in awareness campaign from beginning. The activities includes, poster distribution, email campaigns, updating through social media and visits to various campuses to conduct seminar, etc. The students will also play a very crucial role in execution of final event. I would say, we have already identified the team of more than 50 volunteers dedicated for execution of ME CUP final event in Feb 2017.

Q. This year, CoEP is the venue chosen for the grand finale of the ME Cup. How are you feeling about that?

It’s really good. We fill proud to be associated with ME cup. This entire event will provide a good opportunity to our students for exploring Factory Automation domain and interactions with Industry experts and senior delegates from MELCO, Japan.

Q. What kind of arrangements has been made for the final round at CoEP?

We, the faculty members and students, are eagerly waiting for grand finale in Feb 2017 and to welcome participants & delegates of MECUP 2 in our heritage Campus. Already, preparation has been started.

  • Exhibition pavilion preparation & handling
  • Seminar with audio visual facility
  • Hospitality for outstation participants
  • Logistics for all participants
  • Other required support for MECUP 2
