The mid-term review of thesis for the first “2015 Tongji-HARTING Technology Innovation Contest” and volunteer certificates awarding ceremony was now held at Tongji University. Mr. Andreas Nass, Global R&D Installation Director of HARTING Electric GmbH & Co. KG, Mr. Johnson Chen, Product Application Manager of HARTING Asia, Ms. Diana Wang, HR Manager of HARTING China hosted the mid-term review with other judges.

On behalf of HARTING, Mr. Andreas Nass awarded certificates to the volunteers who supported fair duty at HARTING stall at electronica as well as TongJi-HARTING contest opening ceremony in March. 19 groups submitted thesis and made presentation to illustrate their topics during the mid-term review, among all, 7 groups will create models in the next three months. All of them are well prepared and presented their idea in fluent English. Some groups even brought proto model for judges’ review.

Most of their topics are very practical that aim to tackle the problems in nowadays railway/metro system, such as Dynamic Acceleration Measurement of Rail Vehicle, The Reasonable Redistribution of Passengers in Public Railway Transportation System etc. After the students’ presentation, Mr. Andreas Nass concluded “all the topics are very interesting; it is difficult to choose which one is the best”. In order to improve the understanding about HARTING components, Mr. Andreas Nass also gave training on applications.

In early 2014, Tongji and HARTING signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) of the cooperation to research and develop innovative and advanced railway technologies. As a part of HARTING Scholarship, we also provide summer vacation internship to Tongji students, there are nearly 20 students attended interview on the same day, qualified candidates will start their internship at different HARTING local subsidiaries from this summer holiday.

Final contest result will be revealed in early September after summer holiday. We wish them all the success in the project.
