Q. What are the milestones your company has achieved till date?

Lapp India, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany a 100% subsidiary of the LAPP GROUP Germany, is a leading supplier of integrated solutions and branded products in the field of cable and connection technology. Having started its operations in 1996 with a manufacturing unit in Jigani-Bangalore, it is the second largest plant outside Germany. In 2012, Lapp India completed the first phase of its second manufacturing plant in Pilukedi, Bhopal. The manufacturing plant in Bhopal produces more than 216,000 kms of single core cables per annum, catering mainly to the Building Cable Segment. In 2014, the production area at Jigani was also doubled and a new multi core line was commissioned in Bhopal with a total investment of over 5 Million Euros. Currently, Lapp Group has the second biggest market in India.

In 2015, Lapp India provided about 140,000 km per year of power, control, data and instrumentation cables along with connectors, accessories and end to end systems to over 5,000 active customers spread across different industry segments in India. These segments include automation, textile, automotive, machine tools, oil and gas, renewable energy, process industries, as well as in the infrastructure and building sectors. Since inception, Lapp India has played a key role in Lapp Group’s global growth.

At Lapp, innovation is at the core of its business and all our products are driven by innovation, to win the trust of customers. This can be seen through our milestone that the company achieved in terms of supplying 2 GW  grid connected solar project since its inception in 2010 and also has bagged orders for more than 350MW of PV projects since October 2014. With our basket of innovative products manufactured by understanding our customer and their distinctive needs. We have some innovative products specially designed for applications in heavy industry / process industry like, the ÖLFLEX® HEAT 650 cable that can withstand ambient temperature up to +650°C and OLFLEX® INSTRUM cable for transmitting field data of temperature, pressure, flow, gas, vibration level etc. Apart from these we are also foraying into the retail segment with ÖLFLEX® INFRA, our single core building wires. In an effort to protect the environment and contribute to sustainability, Lapp India received the ISO 14001: 2008 certification in 2015.

Q. What product technology you represent?

Lapp India is now a one stop shop for cables and connection technology. We have a wide range of complete connectivity and plug & play solutions for the growing automated industry in India. Currently, Lapp provides superior quality and highly flexible cables, industrial connectors, glands, conduits, marking systems, tools & accessories, customised system and robotics solutions for the intelligent factory of the future. One such tailor made and cost-efficient connectivity solution from Lapp India is our highly recognised solution ÖLFLEX® CONNECT.

Q. What is the future of your products in India?

Following the growing trend of Industry 4.0 or the fourth industrial revolution, futuristic factories are making a move into the Indian market. Technological expansion and manufacturing development, is here to stay and grow. Henceforth smart cabling solutions (slim and light design) with greater intelligence have to be manufactured, as they are the prime facilitators in achieving the objective of interconnecting intelligent devices with low loss. Broadly, the cables and wires used in these automated equipment / devices have to be flexible, temperature resistant, chemical & mechanical resistant, weather resistant, flame retardant, halogen free, fire survival etc.

Going with the trend, we are currently, a one-stop solution to various industries in the country. Our products are well recognized across the world for its benchmark for safety, standards, product quality in the market for unbeaten German quality in the local market. Thus, Lapp is optimistic about its products in India and will keep improvising its range of products with the growing industrial trends and customer needs.

Q. What is your vision for forthcoming years?

Our vision is to become the preferred partner for cable and connection technology for our customers across all segments of the industry. We at Lapp India aim to double our current annual turnover and build a base of 10,000 active customers by the year 2020. To achieve long-term sustained growth, we will continue to cater to different industry segments and focus on large corporate organizations as well as SMEs & SMBs. Our key focus areas include automation, textile, F&B and infrastructure industries which have been witnessing considerable growth over the last few years.

Also to create differentiation and partner with our customers and support them in their growth, we will focus on offering not just standard products but customized solutions which are plug and play. Olflex connect. Expanding our operations in India has been a key focus for us owing to the promising growth opportunities presented by the country. Additionally, we intend to strengthen our dealer network to penetrate deeper into the market.
