Q. Please brief us about company’s Indian & global infrastructure?
Testo India Pvt. Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Testo AG. Testo AG has a history of more than 56 years as it was established in 1957 with its headquarters in the Black Forest region of Germany in Lenzkrich. Today, Testo AG is a world leader in design, development and manufacturing of portable and test measuring instruments. Testo as a group, has more than 2450 employees, 30 subsidiaries and more than 80 representatives worldwide. Its state of the art manufacturing facility and an extensive R&D unit is located in Germany in Black forest. Testo India Pvt. Ltd, was established in 2006 with its India head office located in Pune. The head office also holds a service and calibration facility. We have our home offices located in 13 other cities while our dealer network spans across the country.

Q. Please also highlight the latest initiatives in your industry domain?
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, India introduced Perform Achieve Trade (PAT) scheme with an aim to reduce energy consumption in industries across India. This is mainly applicable for sectors such as iron and steel, cement, fertilizers, aluminium, textiles, thermal plants and paper which are energy intensive sectors. BEE has notified every industry falling under this scheme about their energy efficiency targets. To implement this scheme, every industry has to appoint an energy audit cell to keep a track on its progress towards energy efficiency targets. Testo offers entire testing & measuring instruments’ kit to equip the energy audit cell for this task. Be it compressed air flow meter, flue gas analyser, thermal imager, rpm meter and so on. Infact, Testo, very soon, will be launching an entire kit for Energy Auditors.

Q. What are the market opportunities for your company’s products in India?
Testo has such a wide range of measuring instruments with varied applications that we have an opportunity in every other sector – be it food & beverages, pharma, steel & cement, HVAC, automobile or any other processing & manufacturing industry. We have solutions catering to industry specific applications. Today Testo data loggers and wireless monitoring system – Testo Saveris are being used in many pharma plants & cleanrooms for climate monitoring. High energy plants such as cement, steel and power find Testo Flue Gas Analyzers as an inevitable solution for emission monitoring and complying to pollution control board norms. Any maintenance department – be it electrical or mechanical finds extensive applications of Testo Thermal Imagers for predictive & preventive maintenance. Testo ensures that the HVAC contractors or facility managers are equipped with the best-in-class measurement technology with all rounder multi-parameter measuring instruments, refrigeration manifolds, leak detectors and so on. Infact, its very interesting for us to offer solutions to even some niche applications of different industries with an array of measuring instruments & probes.

Q. What is future prospect for your industry?
As the processes and industries get more and more quality conscious, role of measurement technology increases. As the industry calls for optimized & more efficient processes, it opens up for precise measurement technology. At the same time, efficient use of energy or energy savings which is infact the need of the hour also requires precise monitoring of energy. Thus, industry is moving towards adopting & deploying measurement technology in more & more areas of applications.

Q. Is there any plans for expansion & new investment in terms of product development or new technology adoption to cater the demand of the industry?
Testo brings to the market, product innovations every year. Testo is very strong on its R&D and invests roughly 15% of its turnover in R&D. Its motto is to be listening to changing customer requirements and delivering accordingly. And hence customer requirements are eventually developed into product innovations. One such path breaking new product launch was that of a thermal imager testo 870 falling in the lower range. With this launch, testo offered thermal Imaging with features that cannot get better in the given price range. It brought best-in-class thermal imaging within the reach of small time buyers also. Not only new products, but we also roll out product upgrades such as patented Testo Super Resolution Technology. This is only a firmware upgrade that actually makes your Testo Thermal Imager give four times more pixels. A camera with infrared resolution 160 X 120 pixels becomes 320 X 240 pixels. There is no doubt that every new product that gets introduced has some remarkable features to look out for. The technology just gets incredibly smarter with Testo.

Q. What is the top line product range & Is there any plans to launch new products?

Testo’s vast product range can be categorized as:

• Portable measuring instruments for temperature, humidity, pressure, air flow, rpm, light, sound and pH
  Online measuring instruments like transmitters and data loggers for continuous process control for temperature, humidity and pressure. We also have wireless data monitoring system called testo Saveris. Testo’s dew point transmitter and compressed air flow meter monitor the quality & consumption of compressed air.
• Testo’s Flue Gas Analyzer is an effective tool for emission monitoring and ensuring complete combustion of fuel, ensuring saving of energy by monitoring efficiency of boilers, turbines, engines, heating systems, etc.
• Thermal Imagers from Testo find an important role in production monitoring, quality assurance and in predictive & preventive maintenance.

We recently added a new sound level meter to our product range – Testo 816-1. This one offers sound level measurement with integrated data storage. We will be shortly introducing an entirely new series of data loggers that are specifically meant for transport conditions monitoring – be it food products, pharmaceuticals or any logistics. These are somethings to watch out for as they too are packed with brilliant features and can be truly called next-generation data loggers.

Q. What is your vision for your company?
Testo AG is a market leader today in test & measuring instruments worldwide. Testo India aims to build the same legacy in Indian markets too.
