Hannover. The lead theme for CeMAT 2016 is Smart Supply Chain Solutions. In other words, the show, which runs from 31 May to 3 June in Hannover, Germany, will highlight the pivotal role of logistics in today’s increasingly digitized and integrated industrial value chains. Wolfgang Pech, Deutsche Messe’s Senior Vice President in charge of CeMAT, explains: “Logistics is growing in importance because accuracy and flexibility of supply are fundamental to the growing Industry 4.0 trend. Soon, all parts containers, racks, materials handling and transport systems and even the materials themselves will need to be intelligent so that they can communicate with their surroundings and with machines and robots.” This is where CeMAT comes in.

Logistics IT

Logistics IT is one of the mainstay showcases at CeMAT – an apt reflection of the current exponential growth in the role of software in the logistics industry. “Smart IT solutions are fundamental to modern logistics. IT is now the number one driver and source of innovation in logistics. That’s because digitization is happening across every segment of the logistics industry. Developments like mobile Internet and the digital integration of all end-users into the production and supply chain are opening up new opportunities and giving rise to new business models,” Wolfgang Pech said.

At the heart of the Logistics IT showcase is the Logistics IT User Forum, where IT experts and users will discuss a wide range of topics, including the role of the cloud in logistics, mobile solutions, interfaces and integration, intelligent tracking and tracing, network planning/supply chain design, big data in logistics, WMS, image processing in logistics, and virtualization.

Move & Lift and Store & Load

The biggest showcases at CeMAT are Move & Lift and Store & Load. The Move & Lift showcase is dedicated to innovations from the areas of materials handling and lifting technology, including industrial trucks, cranes and hoisting equipment, access platforms, continuous handling systems and port handling equipment. As well as presenting these sorts of machines and equipment, the showcase will explore ways in which they can be intelligently integrated into automated supply chains. The Store & Load showcase puts the spotlight on automated warehousing solutions. It features exhibits of rack systems, factory equipment, pallets, containers, loading and unloading equipment and complete warehousing and loading systems. Pech: “Visitors at the upcoming CeMAT will discover a range of full and partial automation solutions to maximize the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of their warehouse materials handling, loading, packaging and distribution operations.”

Cranes and Lifting Equipment Pavilion

Like other core areas of the logistics industry, the cranes and lifting equipment sector faces major challenges from the growing trend towards digital integration and Industry 4.0. In recognition of this, the sector will have its own dedicated exhibition area – known as the Cranes and Lifting Equipment Pavilion – in Hall 27 at the upcoming show. CeMAT is one of the most important trade fairs for cranes and lifting equipment. The exhibits will range from simple load handling attachments to turnkey automatic cranes.

Platformers World@CeMAT

Lifting and access systems are core intralogistics technologies and therefore rightfully rank among the big highlights on display on the open-air site at the upcoming CeMAT show. The Platformers World@CeMAT showcase will feature access platforms, mast climbers, telescopic forklifts, ladder hoists, mini crawler cranes, industrial cranes and more from a wide range of manufacturers.

Pick & Pack

The packaging technology lineup at CeMAT 2016 will be bigger and better than ever, thanks to a partnership between Deutsche Messe and easyfairs GmbH that will see easyfair’s “Empack” and “Label&Print” shows co-staged with the Deutsche Messe’s Pick & Pack showcase. The premiere of this new joint showcase is expected to feature some 200 exhibitors and occupy about 10,000 square meters (107,600 sq. ft.) of exhibition space. It will trace the latest trends and innovations at every stage of packaging and highlight the role of packaging technology within the overall supply chain.

CeMAT

CeMAT trade fairs are operated by Deutsche Messe in the major growth markets of the world. They are highly effective marketing platforms that enable intralogistics providers to get their products and innovations in front of key buyers in their target countries and regions.
