HaasTec 2013 welcomes 3000 visitors from around the world

The recent HaasTec 2013 open house was a resounding success, attracting nearly 3000 visitors – plus 300 students from local and regional schools and colleges, to the company””s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Oxnard, California.

Held the second week of April, the 4-day event drew customers from 44 different countries, including the USA, Canada, China, India, Korea, Latin America, the Middle East, and many in Europe. “Haas Automation Europe was delighted to host more than 250 guests from all over the continent who made the trip to Oxnard,” says HAE managing director, Mr. Alain Reynvoet. “For most, this was their first time to the Haas factory, so as well as seeing the latest Haas products, they were also treated to a VIP tour to meet senior executives and witness first-hand the incredible infrastructure behind the company’s success.”

Basked in seasonal, California sunshine, HaasTec 2013 offered plenty for guests to enjoy, including machine demonstrations, extensive tours of Haas Automation’s 100,000sq.meter facility, a catered lunch, and 38 vendor-booths, with representatives from major CAD/CAM, tooling, and workholding manufacturers on-hand to answer questions. Several of the vendors enthused how the event was a unique and invaluable opportunity to meet owners of HFOs, from around the world, face-to-face. “Once again, Haas Automation has done an outstanding job organizing this landmark event,” said Peter Marton, representing SURFCAM, “with great emphasis on ‘good old-fashioned’ hospitality. Well done, Haas!”

Nineteen of the most popular Haas CNC machine tools were on display – as well the brand-new UMC-750 universal machining center, all of which were cutting metal and demonstrating the latest high-productivity features and options. Also on show were the Haas ST and DS CNC turning centers – with dual-spindle and Y-axis models – the DT-1 Drill/Tap Center, a wide array of Haas VMCs, and a pair of Haas horizontal CNC machine tools.

Those visitors who took advantage of the guided factory tours also got to see nearly 200 Haas machines in action in the workshop, where they are employed making parts for even more Haas machines. In fact, of the 268 production machines in the Oxnard factory, nearly 75 percent are standard Haas machines. Twenty-thirteen marks Haas Automation’s 30th anniversary, and the 25th anniversary of the VF-1. Providing visitors with a historical perspective, HaasTec 2013 included a display of the company’s very first VMC – machine number one, outfitted with an early Haas rotary table – alongside its modern-day equivalent. Today’s VF-1 still sells for less than the first machine’s 1988 introductory price of $49,900, proving that Haas remains the industry leader in delivering ever greater CNC machine tool value, year-after-year.

In addition to the Haas CNC machine tools, HaasTec 2013 also included a selection of Haas CNC rotary products on display, including the new HRC210 roller cam rotary table. With a maximum speed of 830° per second, the HRC210 is more than eight times faster than the standard HRT210. The unit’s high speed and accuracy make it the perfect complement for Haas Automation’s line of Super Speed VMCs. For NASCAR fans, the #14 Chevrolet racecar of driver Tony Stewart was also on display, courtesy of Stewart-Haas Racing. A high percentage of the racecar’s high-precision chassis and engine components are machined exclusively on Haas machines by North Carolina-based Stewart-Haas Racing and Hendrick Motorsports.

By all accounts, HaasTec 2013 was an overwhelming success, providing attendees the opportunity to see first hand what goes into making a Haas machine, and why Haas Automation is America’s leading machine tool builder.
