Nicolas Correa S.A, Spain – 75-year old company listed in stock exchange is one of the leaders in manufacturing of medium & large size CNC milling machines.

Nicolas Correa machines are used in different sectors for critical machining operations.

For Railway sector

Bogie Frames, Bogie Bolster, Switches, Crossings, Engine Block & related components are typical components for which Nicolas Correa have delivered most customised, flexible and economical solutions. Globally more than 100 machines are installed for these Railway Components out of which 30 machines are installed in India.

The challenges are

  1. Cutting the Material: Grey Cast Iron, Fabricated steel, Manganese Steel – Soft material can be easily cut, but the stiffness of the material creates limitations in the spindle power to be used during heavy material removal. Tougher materials like Manganese steel call for higher power with machine capacity to take higher depths of cut. Rigidity of the machine plays an important role for such application.
  2. Accuracy & Critical Operations: Bogie frames do not require very high accuracy but for critical operations or accessibility need to reach some machining areas with narrow cavities. Whereas, Engine block calls for critical operations with very high accuracies. In this case, machine accuracies play a vital role to achieve these accuracies.
  3. Machining Set-ups/Angular Operations/Fixturing: Some of the components need to be machined in single set-up which even calls for negative angle machining. Fixturing for fabricated components with optimum clamping force to achieve desired results is a very important aspect.

Nicolas Correa machines are appreciated by customers for its rigidity, high technicality, and highest productive solutions in this sector.
In India, railway factories and their Tier-I suppliers have at least one machine from Nicolas Correa installed for various components.
